~ Yeah, I'm not sure what term[s] came into my mind when I saw your sharing of Mr. Idei's relevant details, but they were along the lines of "caring, innovative, thinking-outside-the-box." It's true that there are individuals, real people, at the top. One of the problems with these systems, however, is that there are so many layers of policies-and-procedures [and stock options

~ with your business friends, I know you already know all about that], that the one[s] at the top become quite effectively insulated from the real people, with
their stories, that all the policies and procedures affect in the realest of ways. The CEOs cease to be "individuals" in the way we generally perceive that term. It's a dilemma.
Shania Twain did quite well on her own, after rattlesnake-coiling against all the directives given to her, if she wanted to "make it." She "made it" anyway, and has an inspiring story of determination and resilience against being controlled [if one can trust the biographical documentary on her]. There have been others, but what a sad outcome for those like TC mentioned, who get robbed and "shelved." It's so easy to get chewed up and spit out.
Were it not for Columbia, I'm guessing I may never have heard Leonard

.....when it comes to upsides, that's a definite one
