The weather in Las Vegas is some 24 C in the sunny afternoons but a bit chilly in the evening (11-15 C). The forecast was (at least yesterday) giving lower levels for Thursday.

Dear Ann,
Thank you SO much for your best wishes!! I would say "wish you were with us" but somehow I think you will be having a very special time yourself!

Our thoughts will be with you and Greg in Australia, and we will definitely have a toast for the two of you! Have a safe trip and we will be in touch soon!
Hugs,
Diana

Exactly Purple Princess - my philosophy exactly.
I missed the flight - cost me $250 to change it but probably still saved me money!
However as it was I could not resist a small flutter when I got here last night and in a a couple of hours on the tables in two casinos ended up $300 so if I had got here 24 hours earlier at $150 per hour profits.................
Now what do I remember reading about so many gamblers being self delusional!

Diana-
Wish I was there with you all in Vegas! I felt like you were there with us in Nashville...in fact I talked and thought about our very short Detroit "meetup" while everyone was in Nashville. You all are going to have a blast, play a slot for me dear friend...and give Leonard a little extra scream for me

I just have to forget that there are shows going on this week while I'm back to "real life" ha ha ha

But, for Leonard Cohen, we will make an excpetion. Perhaps more concert video captures per person in the audience uploaded to Youtube* than from any other show on
The Strip.
See you there!

Hi all,
Looking forward to dinner this evening with fellow admirers of LC; tomorrow will be my first "live" LC experience and I am more than excited and nervous--I'm not sure if I'll be able to teach my freshman composition classes without bursting into song!!!!
Thanks to Ladydi etal for organizing this.

Last night I went to see Bette Midler at the Colosseum - I think it was just about it was the biggest stage I have ever seen and there were two points of interest regaring Thursdays show:
1 They rigorously searched all bags for cameras which then had to be checked in so if you donyt want to waste time - either dont bring them or check them in. They did not find mine (which I did not use) as it was hiden in a place where the sun dont shine - the frame of my daypack.
2 When I collected two tix for Thursday from thee Box OIffice the guy told me two intesring points. a) None of the Box Office had heard of Leonard before the show was announced but are now intrigued because b) It is the highest price ticket they have ever had at the
Colosseum!
In regard to a) in brief terms for a layman I said 'Think of Dylan for an artist of comparable stature but with melodies 100 times more memorable (or should it be a 1000 times more deeper!) and musicians of the highest quality.
And as for Bette Midler - she was fine and like Leonard does not take heself too seriously and is not afraid to make fun of heself.

Short note: I'm on my way with the tags etc... Right now I'm in Newark (NY) airport, waiting for my 2.45 flight to LV. I should be there around 5.25pm.
See you all soon,
Maarten
