I'm reading this ...........
Can anyone locate a video (etc) of CBC's Camera 3: "This show, long since lost, featured Cohen's only known performance of the song "God Is Alive, Magic Is Afoot" and was broadcast that autumn, just prior to the release of Judy Collins' .. Wildflowers."
This on pg 29 of the book (in para 2).
Did no-one record this???
.... Imagine watching this .......!
[this my plea for a search].

My copy arrived from Amazon today - I was surprised to see a hardback tome instead of a paperback. Just getting started with it. Looks good so far.

I received my book also from Barnes and Noble today. It looks like an easy readable book. Looking forward to getting into it.

I am enjoying the book, but the experience is being marred by the considerable number of editing errors, e.g. 'vacation' for 'vocation.'

Is there paperback? Hard cover seems expensive (with 10 UK pounds for delivery to Croatia).

Only on hardback at the minute. They normally wait a few months before releasing on paperback. I had it included in a huge order to Amazon and got free delivery to Ireland

Amazon send me recommendations of new LC material on a weekly basis so once I see it's available on paperback I'll let you know

I am quite enjoying the book for the most part, but I too am finding the frequent and obvious mistakes frustrating and very distracting. Also the swapping of tenses sometimes renders comprehension somewhat difficult, prompting a few re-reads of that particular extract. On the positive side, there are some photos I haven't seen before either.
Back to the book (which I am reading in bed, cup of tea at my side: I'm having a lie-in!)

I am about quarter way through the book. I too find myself re-reading bits and turning back a page to check something - as caz said - but I am enjoying it.
Also yes, I had not seen some of the pictures before. In fact when I first flicked through, I did not notice the pictures, I came across them as I went.

I have never encountered a book which has been so poorly proofed. It's an insult.

Even worse than Tim Footman's Hallelujah??
Btw, on this morning pic from Auckland (Notes from the Road blog), this seems like paperback to me...

Definitely!
Punctuation, tenses, spelling, the lay-out, even one or two "continuity" errors.....very, very annoying. It's spoiling it for me. Footman was at least entertaining and humorous in his writing (if you like that style). To redress the balance a little though, there are one or two interview extracts that I hadn't read before, and one or two anecdotes (and I didn't expect there to be any of those).
And you're right Tom: it does look like a paperback.

Perhaps - if you felt like it - you could make a note of typo's and proof errors and mail them to me for the sake of future editions. (I'd rather this thread didn't degenerate into a list of corrections). Constructive criticisim.
The book was edited and proofed to what I assume is Omnibus' usual professional standard and I'm dismayed that there seem to be so many errors (if this thread is anything to go by). That said even the cover has mistakes- my name omitted from the spine, one title on the cover, another on the spine. I've skimmed through the book and a few I'd noticed previously obviously remain - the '600' instead of '6000' in the prologue being the most glaring to me.
I haven't the inclination to go through the whole book again right now as I'm working on new projects but if you're reading it for the first time and keep noticing errors, do let me know.
I'm sorry such technical issues are getting in the way for one or three here.
BTW Was the Footman book badly proofed?
I didn't particularly notice. Otherwise I'd hope there is little comparison between his and my book, particularly in terms of
new research . I conducted hours and hours of interviews with LC's musicians, managers, old drinking buddies et al many whom had never been interviewed before.
