"You done?"

[silence, with continued filming, from Arlene]

"Tell me when you're ready... "

You wore him right down with your sheer, yet logical, determination, Arlene. His tone of voice of just giving up was precious.

"You can't be on the street" ~ Well, I guess you could ;-) ... everybody's gotta be somewhere :D .

As someone on YouTube said, Anjani looked FABULOUS!!! The footage is from the back of the vehicle... and I kept wanting her to turn around, but it's clear how BEAUTIFUL she looked for the occasion! It was also good to see Robert Kory standing there in the beginning. And, then, the guest of honour... our dear Leonard.

My heartiest CONGRATULATIONS to Leonard for this Lifetime Achievement Award! He SO deserves this! Jarkko's Forum is about to undergo another growth surge.

WONDERFUL job, Arlene 8) 8) 8) . I witnessed some of your persistence and chutzpah up close in San Jose... and those security people REALLY had no choice but to let you just do your thing and then leave  . I only wish you could somehow have managed to get in, too... you certainly gave them the opportunity to invite you. Thank you for your awesome, super-sleuth skills, Arlene. I'm So Happy it worked out and your self-assigned and widely-appreciated assignment was successfully completed! YaY, Arleeene!!! I'm so happy for your success :D and mission accomplished 8) . GOOD ON YOU!!!

Someone asked me about the man in the light blue jacket in my videos taken outside the Theatre.
Here is a spotlight about him that I posted in another thread as an intro to the article, Bashful Leonard Cohen thankful at Canadian tribute, that appeared in the TORONTO STAR Newspaper. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20755#p214276
Here is a wonderful article by one of Canada's most respected cultural commentators, Martin Knelman. You can see him being warmly greeted by both LC and Kory in my posted videos from outside the special grammys. He is wearing a light blue blazer and carrying a tote bag.

Lovely! Thanks Arlene--you are one gutsy lady. When I was in Calgary, I was lurking around Jack Singer Hall, hoping to get a glimpse of Leonard --found the tour bus but no luck in sighting our man. I am not sure what I would have done, had I sighted him, other than stand there slack jawed and staring. You did great!

Here is a new link for LC’s acceptance speech at the special Grammys, January 30, 2010

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHSfAUJ_TUE

Sorry, I accidentally erased the first Youtube post. But I uploaded it again.

No jokes about my slippery finger, please.

btw. The acceptance speech clip had about 800 hits compared to LC’s arrival at the theatre with approx 1200 hits.

While I am im-patiently waiting for Jarkko's announcement, I'm clearing my camera's memory card from outside the Wilshire Ebell Theatre and also clearing up my memory of the event.

A few observations:

There were very few lurkers***, about a dozen or so, mostly autograph seekers, who were held in bay by security.(You will see them in my video of LC's arrival, trying to cross the street and being turned back.)

There were very few media people outside the theatre. For our Forum members in Austria and broadcast area, here is a nattily dressed duo from Austria (according to the ORF logo on their microphone). They seem to be doing background patter because no stars were in sight for the longest time that they were filming.

Yes, there was a red carpet on the gound. But no buzz, no hoopla. The Honorees arrived quietly, posed for a pic or two in front of the official Grammy backdrop and then entered the theatre. So, no screaming fans and no Joan Rivers to razzle dazz us.

***When I asked son Leonard for the location of the theatre and he heard I wanted to lurk outside, he did not want me to go. "Lurking? In Hollywood we call that stalking. I don't want to read in the newspapers that my mother was arrested for stalking Leonard Cohen." As you know, I went anyway and never told him. He still doesn't know.
