Sandraa, those are great photos. Are you a professional photographer? I love the one where Leonard is bowing to the Webb Sisters and also where he is nearly off stage. You definitely seem to have had a great vantage point. Thanks for posting these pictures.

Thank you very much for all the kind comments. It was a pleasure to photograph Leonard although i photographed a wedding in Southern Ireland the day before and it was pretty exhausting.I had a reasonable seat to the left and on tiered seating. I love the ones where he skipped on and off stage and the ones of him dancing near the Webb sisters. The Webb sisters backward somersaults totally threw me and i missed them. I'm hoping to get more in Sligo and i'm there on both nights

Well, they're splendid, Sandraa, really splendid. Like Diana, I love the one of Leonard in silhouette. I also love the one of him kneeling and the ones of him skipping. Those knock me out every time he does them. I ALSO love the one of Javier. The absolute contrast and richness are breathtaking. Your colours are truly brilliant.

I'm sure your wedding party will be exceedingly pleased with the results of your efforts.

Looking forward to your Sligo photos now.

For someone who has just joined, you seem to have found the right niche and elicited responses from some of the creme de la creme of the Forum!

May I add my welcome! To see Leonard live is to witness a moment in time that will never be repeated. Each time is different, and this is only within the last couple of years....not even touching the 40 plus years of his amazing career. His humility, gentleness, sense of humour....and sizzling sensuality (oh yeah, it's there!) will blow you away. Most of all though it is the words...it all began with the words....the poetry. The melodies and the incredible combination of talent and artistry in the musicians that he shares the stage with is beyond description. But it is the words that will rip into your heart and reach deep into your soul....bring tears to your eyes...and fill you with joy.

He stands alone.

I will miss meeting you, but you will be very fortunate to meet with Amrei in Malmo! We look forward to hearing of your experience.

All the best,
Diana
English words are so easy to use in such contraction of sentences even though you're not sure of it. The important thing is, you tried. It is not hard to keep yourself on focus of believing that you also have the opportunity to make insistent work on it. Words are very sensitive, they are the ways how you can actually express your thoughts.

Hi rocketqueen,
I am a bit jealous, first to be seeing LC in such a short time and secondly it being your first time!
My first I was not the biggest fan, I liked many songs (I didn't realise how many) and respected his writing and reputation, many artists I enjoy are influenced by him so I bought a couple of tickets for a winery concert just outside Sydney in January of 2009, by luck I spent a bit and bought a ticket up the front, I also bought the essential LC album to get a bit of a headstart!
As with so many others I was completely rapt and by the time 'in my secret life' came on realised we were in for something truly special. I did shed a tear and by November last year I was off to the States on my own to see the 'last' shows in Vegas and San Jose where I met many lovely people and had a great time inside and outside the shows. I am really glad they were not the last shows, that he is still enjoying it, and that many of us can get to see him. Any time he gets to Asia or anywhere close by here I am back on the plane...
Enjoy!
If your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn
They will bind you with love that is graceful and green as a stem

I first saw Leonard in Manchester 17th June 2008 ( the ticket is staring at me framed above the computer with a copy of the book of longing ) and I was fine until he sang " Hey thats no way to say goodbye " ( one of my favourite songs ) and then I lost it and I cried . Not something a Yorkshireman does very often I can tell you but I think it was because I thought my chance of seeing him in the 70's and 80's had gone and then the reality of the situation caught up with me . I have seen him three times now and although it might be sacrilege to admit it on the forum I am happy with that and my memories . I am not saying I would not go again but I no longer cherish the book of longing just the book of fulfilment .

Hi Rocketqueen, I'm sort of at the other end of the spectrum from you. I didn't "discover" Leonard until just a few short years ago. When I was your age, I listened to his type of music exclusively. How I missed the Man himself is still a mystery to me. I knew the songs Suzanne, So Long Marianne, and probably Bird on a Wire from other singers. Of course, when Hallelujah became popular I knew several different versions of it from several different artists. But the Man himself stayed hidden from me for literally decades. There is a saying that "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." I suppose that is what happened to me. It wasn't until I was really ready for Leonard's wisdom and beauty that I found him. In so many ways I think of him as a teacher. When I realized his age, I felt certain that I would never have the chance to actually see him in concert. Then I found this forum. When I heard that he was going to be extending his European tour to the US last fall I was thrilled! There were 3 venues that were possible for me to get to with little trouble. I decided to go to see him in St.Louis MO. St.Louis is my home, tho I currently live in Birmingham, Alabama. Both Atlanta and Nashville were closer, but it just seemed that I should see him "at home".

The whole experience was amazing. I arranged my trip and bought my ticket. Thru this forum I met a delightful woman who was looking for a ride from Nashville to St.Louis. We connected and made arrangements for me to pick her up on my way to St.Louis. The ticket I had bought was about 9 rows back and I was thrilled to have such a good seat. However, changes in plans of the people my traveling companion was planing to attend with left her with an extra ticket. She generously insisted I take her extra ticket in exchange for the ride. So I ended up in the 4th row center! The concert itself was magical. Leonard is such a dynamic person. That someone his age could skip and dance around the stage like he does is amazing. I met other fans before the show as several of us arranged to meet for dinner before the show. The people in our little group ranged in age from your age to senior citizens such as myself. We were all immediate friends because of our love for Leonard and his music. You will never forget your experience.

The other thing I wanted to mention to you is to visit this forum frequently. You will find simply the nicest people in the world here....form ALL OVER the WORLD! I've participated in many different forums, message boards, social networking sites on the internet for the last 12+ yrs. Hi Lilifyre
That is a pretty good description of this forum and one I totally agree with the only thing I would say from my own personnel experience is that I have not felt the need to be part of any other social networking site . All I need is here !As you say in your post nice, intelligent diverse mix of people who all share a passion for Leonards music .
Rocketqueen may your association with this forum be long and rewarding !
