No, you aren't the only ones!
I'm here too every day! Really missed them when they were gone last week & feared we wouldn't be getting any more photos.
I really appreciate this, enabling us to follow the tour as it moves around.
Thanks very much, the photos are really great! :D

I'm there all the time also. Not only is Joey providing us with great photos, his comments give us more insight into what is going on and we are finally able to learn who's who on the crew and the phenomenal service they provide. No wonder LC takes every opportunity to thank the members of his UHTC.

I didn't quite realise what a MASSIVE operation it is. So many things could go wrong, yet night after night 'we' see a faultless performance - 200 times now. :D

Keeping fingers crossed that it stops raining and the power stays on in Odense! Not sounding good. Lissadell was only showers....this is RAIN! But the crew and Leonard can work miracles indeed!

Like you, Diana, I hope the rain stops for them but I have to say it sounds rather like a typical wet festival Saturday in Denmark to me! Been there, got the waterproofs and still got soaking wet!

@ mydoglorca: there are no less than 4 large wagons of equipment following the tour around + 2 buses for the crew. By comparison, the Celtic rock band we follow (who certainly don't travel light themselves) typically have one Stardes wagon and one bus. We wondered just how one tour could fill 4 wagons until we watched them delivering equipment to St Mark's Square, Venice in the early hours of August 3 2009. They seem to carry everything with them, including the kitchen sink! (Well, almost ....)

This sounds like it could have been a scary moment:
http://leonardcohen.tumblr.com/post/947 ... ard-on-the

It reminded me of an interview with Hattie Webb...back when Mojo (?) interviewed each band member...and Hattie talked about Leonard's calming presence on a particularly turbulent flight. He said something like "Don’t worry darling, nothing can happen to you; that’s just the way it is.” It's become kind of a personal mantra for me...during rough flights and other white-knuckle moments in life. :D

Talking of scary moments, anyone know what this latest posting is referring to?

"Hattie and Charley Webb finish their solo and another stunning show has wrapped.

Despite a slight scare, everyone is fine and the entire band is heading to the hotel."

In the concert thread "rocketqueen" reports -

Yes, it is a HUGE operation, isn't it, and it all seems to run like clockwork. I suppose they couldn't depend on finding what they need in every venue, so they just have to bring everything. I like the arrows they put on the floor pointing the way to the stage; from now on when I hear the line "no arrows of direction underneath our feet" I'll see those!

Mod Marie Mazur's fabulous http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/ has a terrific link to Joey Carenza's blog which many of us are following on our own, thanks to rpan.

After you hit the link, just roll your mouse over each image to see the post for that date. Or choose another month in the upper right corner.

Thank you, Marie and thank you, Joey and thank you rpan.

Much as I enjoy Joey's "Notes from the Road" it was disappointing not to get an update on Sharon's health there, especially as she was shown to be absent in his photos fron Caen. Weather reports and where they have landed are fine, but I think Sharon's health was uppermost in our minds for the last few days, and cryptic comments about "Curve balls in the works" don't help much. A reminder of how "unreal" such online communication can be, I suppose - fans of Facebook etc. take note!! Luckily, thanks to St Bruno on the Caen thread for the report, it seems that Sharon is ok; best wishes to her. Surprised too to see that no announcement was made from the stage about her absence; that would have been good out of courtesy to the Caen audience.

I disagree totally. Surely Sharon's health is a matter for Sharon and no one else? Joey would not feel it was his place to make any comment, and quite right too. As for there being no announcement regarding her absence, it's the Leonard Cohen show. Whilst we feel we have got to know Sharon over the years with several of us having had the pleasure of meeting her in person, the reality is that the vast majority of the audience at any and every show have no idea who Leonard's angels are, and probably care even less. There are probably even people at the shows who have no idea who Leonard is - they just know that it's the place to be!

Wendy
That makes very little of Sharon's role, Wendy - "my collaborator", as Leonard describes her, friend and fellow - writer of over 30 years! And Joey's Tweets are aimed at and received by the "Committed" , not those who hardly know who Leonard is, not to mind Sharon.

We know that but my point was that the "casual" concert goer does not.

Good to finally see comment on Sharon's absence, and well wishes for her recovery. As for the lack of announcements from the stage, like it or not, they are public performers, for whom people have paid to see and hear. For example, If an International soccer player is unable to play, details of the problem/injury are immediately made available. Nobody expects such detail, but people who like and admire her are naturally concerned for her welfare. In Lissadell in particular the special reception Sharon received was noticeable; had she not been able to appear, I'm sure many who looked forward to hearing her would have welcomed an explanation for her absence.
