Ha ~ just a little synchronicity :D . My friend, Ron, came in and sat down near me at my desk to read the paper he had in his hand. As he held it up, reading an inside page, I saw the front page with a photo of a woman grooming a dog. "Rockin' Robin" was the title above the photo. That's the first name of the woman at the local, animal shelter doing the grooming. And it was yesterday's paper!?! Now, you tell me the chances of that  !?!

I had another one the other day, a really pointed one, but couldn't find our 'Synchronicity' thread to save my life. However, since this thread leant itself so well, I'll go ahead and include it here. There's a man who comes in to use our services here, who returned some months ago from a tour of duty in Iraq. Several of us here 'supported' him with CARE packages while he was over there. When he returned, he came in to thank us all, and brought me [and them] a couple gifts. I saw him in here about a month later and we were talking. I got his email address, in case he goes again [a good possibility]. He had some photos in the car that he took while he was over there. I really wanted to see them, so he went and got them.

He'd just returned, and I had to go to the copier first, before I started looking, and while there, my supervisor said, "Aren't you supposed to be at the doctor's right now?" OMG, yes  ! I returned and hastily excused myself, and said, "Please bring the pictures back! I really want to see them!" However, I still had the feeling that he thought my sudden departure was an excuse, that I'd changed my mind, or had been told to get back to work, or something. He said he would return with them, but he hadn't.

So, about three months later, I noticed his card on my desk and decided to email him, to restate my interest. I did that, and then later in the day, as I was going through that day's sign-in slips [that people fill out when they come in], I saw his name ! I checked the time he'd written on it, against the time I sent my email, and they were one minute apart    ! Hence, while I was writing him, he was here ~ arriving only one minute of my sending it  .

[He later wrote me back, and assured me that he'll bring the photos in, along with a disk that has some others on it.]

Okay, back to robins :D . And ages  .

I turned 50 the same day as Leonard turned 70. That we share a birthday is of course not the reason why I am a sort of fan (I discovered that only years later), but I admit that it is a nice coincidence. I call myself a "sort of fan" because most of the other members of the Forum, including those who are much younger than me, know so much more about LC than I. I don't even have all his CDs   I like his very first album most, and have listened a lot to that one in particular for the past 35 years.

Welcome, Stranger :D ! At last I get to use that phrase, and have it be both literal and figurative! Happy Belated Birthday to you, too! Yes, a lovely coincidence on sharing the same day. My perspective on your 'degree' of 'fandom,' is that you can be as great a fan of Leonard's with your repeated listenings of your one album, as someone else is who has and knows all of his various works. Although different aspects of him manifest through all the others, there's a core that makes him who he is that comes through from the beginning. In my mind, you don't need to feel apologetic, and you're a 100% fan, who even shares his birthday 8) .

Thanks for your welcome, Lizzytysh. Although I travel a lot for my work, I'll try to log in on the Forum often and get to know the other fans a bit better(and I do have more than the first CD, but that's the one I like best).

:D Yes, I know, Stranger ~ and I considered mentioning that you also had others ~ however, that was the one that you've played repeatedly, the most, and is your favourite. Great on your continuing to check in :D , despite your being on the road a lot! Have you had the chance to peruse the Index here and see that we have an Event coming up in Berlin and 2006, as well as an informal gathering on Hydra in 2005? Getting to know some people here really makes going even more special.

Hi, I did, and who knows, if I can make it I could probably join in. Would be a great opportunity.

I've got to say, I'd love to make one of the forthcoming events. Gutted that I missed the 'Came so far for beauty' event in Brighton (I was getting married).

Btw, it's great to see so many younger Cohen fans on here (you oldies are ok too!).

Congratulations, Greenfeld ~ If you've gotta miss Leonard for something, I'd say that's a something worthwhile, and of which he'd 'approve' . Too bad on the specifics of the timing, as "Came So Far For Beauty" would've been a great honeymoon, and symbolically appropriate, as well :) .

Did anybody here go? Who performed? Did Nick Cave play? I didn't ever see a write-up.

Hi Greenfield - quite a few of us went. There is a write up on the main pages. Nick Cave was on for quite a while, You missed a really great night. Getting married is quite a poor excuse for not turning up

I am gutted just reading the report (the one by the guy who had to leave early!)...Nick Cave is a genius, I love his stuff.

Anybody know if any of the concert has been MP3'd?
