What I heard is a sound a bit in between "mit" and "mate" at the end, with little emphazis on the beginning of the word "In", which may accentuate the sensation to hear more "mate" than "mit" at the end.

A few days ago, I had an American TV soap-opera going on in the background (probably "Castle", but I'm not sure).
At one point in time, someone said "intimate", and in the given context it was clearly an adjective.
And the pronunciation was clearly "inti-matt".
