Wonderful of you to come straight here to introduce yourself, mferguson, and welcome :D !!!

Hopefully, you will somehow be able to sort those tricky logistics, and see Leonard, again. I've been listening to him since 1968, and have never lost my love.

Hi everyone, I'm also a long time LC fan who has been more of a lurker here for the last few years - I first saw him at Carnegie Hall in 1988 and then again in October 2009 at Madison Square Garden in NY. Although the Garden is much larger and really more of a sports arena, I couldn't believe how spectacular the sound was. I have been to a lot of shows there and never heard anyone else sound as clear as LC did that night. I thought it was a much more enjoyable show than the Carnegie Hall show. Of course, the musicians and the Webb sisters also played a big role in that . I have been going to concerts since 1972 when I saw John Lennon at the Garden and have pretty much seen nearly every major group or artist since (and a lot of lesser known ones as well) but the 2009 show at the Garden ranks as the best concert I have ever seen and I am looking forward to seeing him again!

Hello
I've also just joined the forum, although I've spent a long time watching from a lonely wooden tower! :)
I'd just like to reassure everyone that I'm not one of those dreaded ticket touts or scalpers, but a genuine Cohen aficionado (see how I avoided the word "fan" there :) ) who's looking to participate here in the long term and, perhaps, even meet some of you when the next leg of the tour is announced and comes to fruition.
I'm located in "the mysterious city of Melbourne," Australia.
Thanks
Murray

From one Aussie to another,
Welcome to the forum Murray :D

Let's hope we get our wish and LC comes back to Australia. I'm feeling fairly confident about that! I won't be going to Melbourne but there are a few Melbournites here on the forum. When the time comes someone usually organises a get together. I think Ania did that last time in Melbourne (that doesn't mean she will again) but someone will. Keep looking and posting and enjoy all that this wonderful forum has to offer.

I'm new to the forum and the website. I was a big fan of Leonard's in the seventies when I was young and depressive, and his songs made me feel better, paradoxically maybe. Now I'm older, more positive about life, generally happier all round, and I like the new Leonard Cohen, whose newer work also strikes me as more positive. Is this a thing of getting older, I wonder. Life is pretty miraculous. After billions of years of waiting in line, it's your turn to be born and live a life. Amazing! Mr Cohen's work makes me think of these things. Sometimes I put his music on while I write. I wrote a whole novel listening to his songs and reading his poems. Did a couple of other things too, but the music of his words entered in, I believe. I'd like to quote a line from a song of his, but not sure how to get the permission, and the publication date is looming, so I might need to leave it out. Can anyone advise me on how I might go about this? I seem to be getting blocks when I try.

Hi Grandma ~ Welcome to the Forum :D !

As Grace has so kindly and quickly provided you, that's the place to effect contact. Seeing the Fax number provided, as well, with your deadlines looming, my suggestion would be to email, write, and fax your request, noting of course in each one that due to your previous attempts, you're trying to cover your bases, as you don't want to miss out on the chance to include Leonard :) . Your Subject line might include "Permission Request w/Deadline Looming" ~ hopefully, amongst the thousands of emails they must get each day for various reasons, it might catch someone's eye and prompt a response. Of course, I'm sure you'll include the line, as well, in your initial email.

As to my suggestions, you may have, in essence, already planned everything I've suggested. Even so, might as well reenforce it... and you never know :) . No guarantees on the effectiveness of my suggestions; just thinking of what I'd do in similar circumstances... with the looming deadline making all the difference in the outcome... and with previous attempts having failed.

The very best of luck to you in your mission. What a shame it would be to have to leave it out.

Interesting how Leonard meets our needs at all life levels. Really liked your description of how it's been with you. Especially as we're growing older, it seems to me we find additional levels of comfort in his words.

Hello,
My name is Kwanjin. I am 71 years old. I am a novice priest in the Five Mountain Zen Order.
Have been a Leonard Cohen fan since 1969. Songs From A Room blew me away.
I posted this recently on facebook.

Well, I've finally made the big time. The other day I was playing my new Leonard Cohen cd and my cat got up and ran out of the room. Today I dug out my guitar, struck one chord and the cat ran out of the room. Me and Leonard Cohen, who would have guessed?

Thank you Leonard for being.

LOLOLOLOL... indeed, you have, Kwanjin.
No better place to come lick your wounds than here... be it people or pets, most of us can relate, having experienced similar responses in our lives to our love of Leonard's songs and music. Perhaps, your cat was rushing out to share the good news with its own feline friends... come closer, hear Leonard!
Welcome to the Forum :D ... will you be seeing anywhere on this tour?
Leonard's music came to me a year after it did to you. How did you discover him? [There's a thread on the Forum somewhere asking that, actually.]
Where is the Five Mountain Zen Order?
