I could get 2 tickets,not in the very front but still very near.I want to give it to my husband as a surprise for his birthday and I am looking forward to the concert in my hometown with a special reason : it will give him courage to undergo all the heavy treatments for leucemia,and by then he will be cured and enjoy this concert as never before.

Does anyone have any thoughts about hotels for Ghent? I struggling to judge just how far Sint-Pietersplein is from the historic centre of the town. It looks a bit too far to walk?

Sorry for not replying to your pm earlier...
Sint-Pietersplein to the historic centre is about 1km - 1,5km. The Novotel Hotel is perhaps a good choice (Goudenleeuwplein 5, Gent).
Perhaps Antoine can give some more info, he's from Gent.

It's Wednesday morning and the presale is still active! If you missed it yesterday, there is still time!

There are also some very nice Bead and Breakfast places in Gent,lately there are some new ones.
The old center is maybe a little further away,but still at walking distance, but so much nicer to stay.
Next to my door is a little hotel,not expensive and recommended by Trotter : Flandria-centrum hotel.

Great news to hear that there will be another concert in Belgium!
We planned to go to Lille, but due to the reschedueling of the tour, we couldn't go any more (25 sept = the day of our church-wedding)
But... August 20 is the day of our... civil wedding (the formal part)! As we are living in Gent and the civil ceremony only takes a couple of minutes, we decided to go!

I saw some people asked for places to sleep. As indicated above, the centre of the town is on walking distance (15-20minutes) and it's really a much nicier place to stay in the center then around.

I can recommend you :
- "Brooderie" : a very nice Bed and Breakfast (but only 3 rooms, so you'll have to be fast ) --- http://www.brooderie.be/
- the youth hostel, alongside the beautiful Lieve-canal --- http://www.vjh.be/gent.htm

Belgium is nice, but the weather isn't always. Does anyone know how they will manage it if it rains?

there is a very good website : www.bedandbreakfast-gent.be
You can go on the map and close inn enough to see the Kunsthal St-Pietersabdij : the place of the concert is in front of the St-Pietersabbey.Then you will see blue dots to indicate the nearby Bed- & Breakfast.All the other info,photo's and prices are on the website.

I found the closest ones you could check out :

I come with my wife and a colleague and we have tickets for parterre B row 14, seats 14, 15 & 16. Hope to see you all there !

With a little luck, we may meet LC in the splendid Saint Bavo Cathedral (with the world famous painting of the Van Eyck Brothers "The adoration of the mystic lamb", anno 1432), lighting a candle before the concert, like he did before in Köln.

Could someone please advise me on the best route to Gent.
I will be flying from Ireland.
I think maybe I will need to fly to Brussels and get a bus or train to Gent or is there a better way.

the best is indeed to fly to Brussels Airport.
(not Brussels -south (Ryannair)= Charleroi and 1h drive to Brussels
In the airport,on the -1 level is a direct trainconnection to Gent,passing by Brussels.It takes about 50 minutes.
Every hour or every half hour to Brussels and change there to a direct train to Gent.Easy!
