Here in Croatia, the leading music radio station opens its weekly music news (repeated few times daily) with Dance Me to the End of Love (1985 studio version), over which the speaker reads the Hall of Fame nominees, stating data about 70 writers and historians as voters, and other nominees this year "beside Leonard Cohen".
Well, it seems that everybody think it's logical that Cohen will be included, at least here in Europe.

I remember when Leonard won the Juno here in Canada. Yes, he was quiet and humble. His smile shy and small, he said "I'm glad someone's finally listening", but he did look 'inwardly' pleased. Standing ovation, of course, but that was for Closing Time. I wonder if people in the 'peanut gallery', just don't care anymore? These old 'folkies' are simply not taken 'seriously anymore. Genius writer or not. Maybe they see him in a different category. Poet. *sigh* - I suppose 'he' doesn't care, but "I", "we" do. I wonder? Who then, is this award really for? Does Leonard 'care' enough? Or, do we care too much? It's just a statue. Does anyone think Steve Tyler cares? The only way Leonard would get in would be on Bono's back. Sorry, but that's may bitchin' opinion for this evening.
YG, I have to hand it to you. Every year, at this time, here you are, beating that revolutionary drum. Waiting for the Miracle to Come. Oh, I so hope it happens. I would be so happy for you, as well as Leonard.

This time we have Anthony DeCurtis and his Rolling Stone magazine behind this. Who could know that the first three reissues will lead to this? I myself don't care much about awards, but he did deserve it, and I hope it will happen. I think the context now is finally open for that.

Do you know how many important musicians are not recognized by the Roll Hall Of Fame? As far as I am concerned, this award is valueless.
Leonard deserves great recognition for his work, but this does not mean a lot to me.

Uh Oh, I hope the people who love Leonard's music but don't care about Halls of Fame aren't going to start making phone calls and writing letters to the Rock Hall and Song Hall to try and stop any future inductions!
Okay now I've completely gone paranoid and lost it!

It's certainly been skewed, as so many awards seem to be, but Leonard's writing and music have long deserved this alongside the rest. I hope he gets the vote and, if he does, I believe it will be on his own merits.

Which songs should Leonard Cohen perform at the induction ceremony? Artists usually perform two songs. Which Cohen songs should other artists perform? Most likely it will be Leonard's music that will be performed in the All-Star Jam at the end of the ceremony, if not The Ventures beach music, or John Mellencamp and his numerous songs about growing up in America. He's got lots of those.

I would like to see Leonard perform "Hallelujah," so the 'world' can witness its original seriousness, irony, intensity, and beauty... and "Anthem" [so timely, beautiful, and inspiring]. Both will reveal Leonard as the quintessential and serious artist that he is and has always been.

I would love to 'see' Leonard perform anything. However, I can't see it. I love his rich voice, when he speaks, but as of late, his singing is not at its peak. I think he knows this. I would opt for 'Bird on the Wire' - it's a personal favourite.

There was talk about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, and Leonard had thought he'd been nominated before, and wondered where the hall was.

There was talk about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, and Leonard had thought he'd been nominated before, and wondered where the hall was. Alan Acosta noted that he was in the Canadian equivalent, which Leonard said "Yes, but it isn't called that, it's called the Vestibule of Fame."
