Thanks for answer Yank. Any chance you may post the edited version somewhere, or that VH1 will show it again? didn't get to see it or the reaction shots you describe.

It's going to take a while before I can post them on YouTube. I'm going to have the VHS Tapes copied to DVD first. It will be easier that way to upload.

Here's a list of what I will be putting up on Youtube:

The 5 different TV Commercials for the 2008 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

The 2 brief VH1 NEWS segments about the 2008 Rock Hall - Before and After

The opening credits to the 2008 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. By the way, I still can't tell which LC song that was, that was playing during the opening credits. Could you?

The Leonard Cohen induction video biography, called "The Leonard Cohen Package", with Lou Reed's and Leonard Cohen's speeches, and audience reactions, and Damien Rice's performance.

The edited version of the 2008 Rock Hall, which includes different audience reactions during Leonard Cohen's speech, including the people who were sitting at his table, Adam, Lorca, and Lunson.

Plus, I forget what this is called--when they tell you what's coming up next after the commercial? A preview? There is a shot of Leonard Cohen standing in the kitchen with Lou Reed, watching Damien Rice's performance on a TV screen hung on the wall in the kitchen.

Does anyone know if this has been shown in the UK? I have checked VH1 periodically and have never come across it.

So, VH1 decides to put pictures of Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp, Madonna, The Dave Clark Five, and only 2 of the 5 members of The Ventures on their 2008 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Sweepstakes ad, and they leave out three members of The Ventures, Little Walter, and Gamble & Huff.

The 2008 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Program Booklet has pictures of Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp, Madonna, Gamble & Huff, and The Dave Clark Five. They left out The Ventures and Little Walter.

Come on, they should have just shrunk the pictures and put everyone on there! What the hell!

Don't be mad at VH-1 Yank -- the BACK cover of the program shows Little Walter and the Ventures very well. Can't explain the banner.

On Saturday your post questioned what snippet of a Cohen song was used in the opening credits ... what I hear is "juah" from the German Hallelujah clip.

Also of note, the cover pictures were all large commisioned paintings -- which were also displayed on easel boards in the cocktail area. Arist is Stanley Mouse, who is famous for his music artwork, especially for the Grateful Dead.

Would it be possible for you to scan the back cover of the program too with The Ventures and Little Walter?

Have it posted on Speaking Cohen?

Hi Dick

Did you get a CD at the ceremony? How many pages is the CD booklet? Which Leonard Cohen song is on it?

Someone on ebay who attended the ceremony is selling the book and the CD that were distributed to all those who attended.

Yes, every guest got a bag which included the program and a cd. Will post the cd insert tomorrow, along with pages from the program -- Cohen songs on cd are Suzanne,Tower of Song, and Dance Me to the Ene of Love. Interesting that Hallelujah was not on the cd.

Think it has been reported here already... one reviewer noted the irony in the other contents of the gift bag --- 30 pack of blank Maxell cds in slim cases. :)

Many of those weighty gifts were left on chairs. The programs and cds were all taken home. We looked but were unable to find any extras.
