Hi Lisa,LisaC wrote:John E,
I am not sure I understand the point of your earlier post about some of the "Winners" (your quotation marks) having posted very little. Is posting a sign of worthiness or dedication? Maybe I should start posting more, then! For me, I simply enjoy being a part of this erudite community that shares a love for the words and music of Leonard Cohen. I really don't feel my thoughts are worth posting (as I may be proving right now!)
Just wondering.....

Everyones thoughts are worth posting! Sometimes we just sort of "shoot from the hip" when we have something to share, and other times I'm sure we all sort of hang back and try to think of the best thing to say...perhaps even intimidated a bit by the intelligentisa or "cleverness" of some on this Forum. BUT, don't let that ever hold you back. We are all basically the same....heck, especially me. It took me several months before I truly felt comfortable sharing some feelings. Then something opened up and I couldn't care less. If one person felt what I said wasn't what they thought I should say then, who cares. As Lizzy has in her signature...."Be yourself, everyone else is taken....Oscar Wilde". If one posts only once then whatever they have to say is just as important as someone who may have posted 2000 times!
Take care and all the best,
Diana

Lisa - Diana is right.
I often think I should keep my gob shut but I can't that saying goes through my head
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"
But then I still say it anyway and the earth hasn't swallowed me up yet

With a forum like this, it is very easy for those who post regularly to come to imagine that we are in a private chat-room with just a dozen or so acquaintances. I don't think any of us realised two years ago just how many people were reading our pearls of wisdom without themselves posting. It was the announcement of the 2008 tour which opened the flood-gates, and suddenly people who had only been reading started posting as well ... and it has gone on from there, as numerous concert-goers have used the forum to express their delight at the performances, but then fallen silent again.LisaC wrote:John E,

No, of course, someone who posts regularly is not more worthy than someone who admires Leonard in a read-only mode. When a newcomer posts for the first time, it is easy to make the mistake of assuming that the newcomer has only just discovered the site ... whereas in reality he or she has probably been lurking for months, even years.
I know I did!

Jarkko, I hope you will get the answers you're looking for, although I think it's kinda funny, all those three millionth visitors!
It automatically makes me think about those annoying popup ads , " you are our ...th visitor, click here to claim your prize!"
Maybe you should just cancel the "small prize" and change it to "eternal fame"?
As for the low post count of some people -- I think most boards have more readers than participants.
I'm one of those passive board people
(I had registered once before, I think about a year ago but couldn't find my login info so I created a new account.
Doesn't really matter because I think I only had like 3 posts.)

Re: Who will be our 3.000.000th visitor?
Finally we have the results! I received 48 emails, most of them with photos of the counter (yes, every of them showing 3.000.000). After getting information from the counter service provider and comparing the logs with our own server, it became clear that the winner entered from Belgium at 1:01 Greenwich Mean Time. The winner had emailed me, and she is Astrid CORBISIER. She will get the prize I promised - it will be the new 5 track CD by the Webb Sisters, signed by both of them. "If it be your will", featuring also Leonard, is one of the tracks (recorded last year in July in London).
I'm sorry that we had such a mess - it is not clear why the counter freezed, but it was showing 3.000.000 for about ten minutes to everyone who arrived or refreshed the page during that period. Maybe there were too many who constantly reloaded the page...
Good news: we will have an extra draw with two more prizes (the same as the winner's) among all who emailed me their 3 mill info.
I will ask Charley and Hattie Webb to be Sisters of Fortune... Names to be announced later!
Thanks to all and congratulations to Astrid!

Very well done Astrid you are Spartacus.
Did you leave the page open for 30 minutes to let us interlopers come through a time portal and cause this confusion
Jarkko now you can have a lie down in a quiet room to recover your sanity.
