Because there is a direct train connection to Ghent.

the best is indeed to fly to Brussels Airport.
(not Brussels -south (Ryannair)= Charleroi and 1h drive to Brussels
In the airport,on the -1 level is a direct trainconnection to Gent,passing by Brussels.It takes about 50 minutes.
Every hour or every half hour to Brussels and change there to a direct train to Gent.Easy!

Yes, to take a train from Charleroi to Ghent, you'll have to pass via Brussels-South (1h25 min approx)
there are 2 trains / hour (X.7 min and X.37 min)

Oh gawd - I just got really excited as I was offered two Golden Circle parterre seats C 2-18 and 2-19 for this concert. As soon as I'd completed the purchase (without looking at the calendar), I realised we have a wedding to go to on the Saturday, so I'm not going to be able to use them. If anyone would like to buy these at cost - 200 euros, plus postage, please PM me, and as soon as the tickets arrive we can sort something out.
