First of all I point out that to "fake" ignorance, you have to show ignorance. I have no idea where or when you think I have shown or acted ignorance. I started this little thread using "muffins" as symbolisn for peace, and War as symbolism for War.

Although the occcasional person has committed himself, there has in this group generally been a lilly-livered fence-sitting response to my fine exponition of the issue. It is vital and also timely, any day now American troops, supported by Britisers as well could be in real life action. I say "real life" but it could also include death (although personally I am clear that I am against this).

As to linguistic problems, on what would you base that scurrilous remark?

Finally, I am certainly not shy of "love". In OUr Lord Jesus Christ we can all find Love, normal people, ugly people as well, and sinners also as well.

To those newcomers not acquainted with the reference to muffins, this was mentioned some time ago in another thread in relation to some person giving away muffins to encourage people to vote for them. Hence "can I have a free muffin with that please", and so it goes on.......
It's just a long running joke to add a lighter note compared to other more serious discussions which take place on this forum.
If Paula H. cannot see the humour in all these references I wonder what she or other newcomers, particularly the non British ones, would make of another recent jokey thread titled "Is L C for hire?"

but in fact the only allowance my parents gave me was that name and $20 per month. I could barely afford to but Cohen albums let alone muffins. But once a week they let me watch Muffin The Mule on the television and that very much shaped my later political views.

I am becoming increasingly distubered as this thread develops. Ask yourself, take a moment, inspect yourself, in a mirror, with or without, who can say?

Today, the gruesome display of animal cruelty, the Grand National disgraced our tv screens once again. How many horses and jockeys died? And the Government doesn't give a t*** and yet has found time to outlaw hare coursing and fox hunting, the natural method of vermin eradication!

What has Blair said about it? Nothing! He can't go on using the Iraq War for ever as a reason for silence.

1. I, for one, have never faked ignorance. However, I do (out of necessity) fake intelligence on a daily basis. Nor do I ever deign to do something so horrifying as to check myself out in a mirror. Rather, I live by the following immortal axiom:

2. I have a strong suspicion that at least several of the posters here who continue to go on about muffins in a Cohen context are actually making a vaguely-veiled reference to their craving for Leonard Cohen's buns.

3. Having grown up in New England, where maple syrup is something approximating a sacred libation, I hereby invoke the ghosts of all the venerated witches of Salem to visit imps, itching, and go-bump-in-the-dark midnight unpleasantries on any and all who would furter defile this elixer with guarded (or not-so-gaurded) innuendos of carnality and impurity.

4. Paula, your admonition to "commit myself" is well-taken, yet I fear there's no need. I expect to be committed any day now, after which I'm sure they'll get wise to me and never let me see the light of day again.

I really am not understanding sll you say about War and muffins but I think very funny!

Buns? Someone mentioned buns?............What have buns got that muffins haven't? Don't confuse the issue here....
Personally I prefer muffins - with syrup of course (and butter) (and a free Leonard Cohen) - but everyone to his/her own taste.

Loved the poem David, long ago found that most conventionally good- looking men were conceited, dim, or both.

However, I think your association with buns of the bodily variety is mistaken. You underestimate the female craving for cakes (and chocolate!) These simple pleasures are infinitely more satisfying on occasion.

Jo, the buns would have to be cream buns.
