.......and David, welcome from me as well!
BTW, any ideas of how I could get the '88 Austin City Limits Concert (I don't have anything to change, just wondering about its availability - would love to get my hands on it if I could).

Welcome to the Forum, Silvergreen

. Pretty name and photo of you. I saw you here just before I left earlier today. I've never understood the "sad" label, either.

I find LC's music hysterical, thoughtful, sensual, and deeply spiritual... but rarely "sad." To be sad, the music would have to be manipulative and cloying ("Seasons in the Sun" comes to mind.) and I think this is different from melancholy, which is sadNESS mixed with sensuality.
On a trivial matter... is LC still a vegetarian? I recall him ordering a cheese sandwich in a documentary I watched.

Actually, I would differentiate between sadness from sentimentality, which fits Jackbox's description well. I don't find sadness, expressed as sadness, manipulative.
Much of the strength of LC's work involves his ability to give free expression to the entire range of human emotions, but in the highest human context - a primary reason I find his music (and poetry) so liberating.

it was my birthday yesterday, indeed - i don't know what time is it there where you are (it is Saturday, August 25, midday, here).
it was great, my b/day party - a bbq with friends, till late in the night, under the starry sky, in the moonlight

Hi Silvergreen ~
It's working on being midday Saturday here, now, as I write this at 9:30 AM, but definitely not when I sent my wishes

. Your birthday sounds like it was a fun one

Hi Elena ~
Don't know that I'd want to accelerate time any more than it's already doing on its own

. I do know what you mean, though
