March 11 dates/venues were tentative and published in PR for the Hall of Fame induction. But the frenzy was made by this very forum, here. August date were not and still are not confirmed or cancelled. They don't need to be cancelled as they were never announced, in the very first place.
Now, amateurish tour organisation it might well be - be careful and note that this tour is organised by Leonard personally, with Robert Kory and Ed Sanders (probably), plus AEG as promotor (not producer). This tour is private business venture by Leonard and his close helpers. No Sony in it. No big label. If you are willing, you can write to office and offer a show in your town.
Of course, the whole tour is - I feel - tentative. You're mentioning the possible further cancellation. Well, who knows. If this tour does, in some case, not go well, maybe Leonard will not go further than Maritimes. It is organised in such a manner that he can withdrew at any moment. That's why it's good to have Sharon and Roscoe on board.
Who cares about August dates? I mean, if June-July goes well... and Leonard feels comfortable... we are looking forward into even greater EU tour in 2009-10.
So, I don't need any apologising or explaining from Leonard at all. He's under pressure now, he has to make some money, and he has to perform well as he's the most honest live performer at all, wanting to give people a deserved performance for the money they paid. Knowing Leonard and his previous tours, that's his main concern right now.

Btw, some are blaming, Henning. They can spent the money differently or go to see another artists (I will not say the names). Or whatever. I am in part of Europe where this tour is not happening (that's bigger part of it.). For some, it seems, Leonard Cohen concert is something they can see whenever.
In my life, there's Leonard Cohen, and there's other music. Or: I don't care about the music, to say it differently. But I do care about Leonard Cohen.
So I see this tour thru completely different eyes.
I can as well stay at home and listen to live 2008 CD in the future.
ps. I agree with your post, Polarfox. I was too young to see LC in 1993, and I could easily live without this tour. You can understand why is he so tentative and nervous about the tour. And sadly, it seems there will be always people wanting the money back, as those two stupid guys after Frankfurt 1972 concert in Bird on a Wire movie.

Very well said, Tom. Leonard does take his performer role so seriously that it is distressing to think that he might also have to be worried about helping to arrange the details of the concerts.
We have all worried about the toll that this brutal pace might have on him. Now that it seems that he may be pulling back a bit (quite rightly in my mind), we are the last ones who should complain about the slowing of the pace. With all that said, I still hope that all of his fans have the opportunity to experience a live concert performance. It was 1970, prior to meeting Anne, that we last attended a Leonard Cohen concert.

I second that, Peter, and I do this
although I've never ever seen Mr. Cohen live nor do I have the possiblity to get to Lörrach or somewhere else to see him. I am sad because a lifelong dream has been bursting from the information that I shall send back my tickets for Berlin. However, I'll keep on listening to Mr. Cohen anyway, my love for him won't be more or less just because I haven't seen him and I hope that the tour will be doing no harm to his health.

It is better for him not to give hundreds of concerts in rainy Europe just to look at elderly ladies one more time - and it may help that he lives a little bit longer.
Naaah, this isn't macho, Peter, I'm with you! Looking at eldery men is much more of a delight!
Dear Jarkko, thank you so much for you huge effort! *hugs*

This reads like you are Leonard's balcan Tom of Arc

I like it. In all honour, if things go wrong it has to be named.
The business chain seems to be like this:
Leonard - Kory - AEG - Local organizer - Ticketshops
For Berlin the local organizer is EBZ Concerts in cooperation with
http://www.music-pool.com
Something must have gone wrong in communication. I don't feel sorry about myself, I've got other tickets, too. But there are others involved, business people who have to deal with refunding, and disappointed fans not capable of travelling to other locations, those who really long to see and hear Leonard live once in a lifetime.
So, I am glad to know that so many happy people will get to see Leonard in their hometown or close by. We have prayed for this and I am sure the shows will be great.
I would have voted for Jarkko doing the whole tour organization. No one is more professional in organization matters like he is.

Thank you guys for the kind words - but the fact is that none of us has any idea how huge project this kind of tour is! It involves directly hundreds of people all over the world, and even more indirectly. It's like making a puzzle with many pieces missing... and when you find those, you will find out that some of the pieces you have already set, don't match any more. The local concert organizers of course want you to give them numerous gigs, and every capital welcomes Leonard, but there is no way to meet all the demand. This tour is even more complicated because it includes so many festivals with fixed dates (and located far from each other - the tour has to go back and forth all over Europe). When everything finally seems to be OK, then you may find out that there are unexpected problems with the logistics... And last but certainly not least you have to take the well-being of the artist and the musicians into consideration.
I'm sure we all would have a nervous breakdown if we were in charge of this! (Both Henning and I have been organizers of a LC Event -- Henning for Berlin and I for Hydra -- and we know how many things we had to take care of -- and we had just one location and one wekend!)
So, we have to let the organizers take their time. There might still be unavoidable changes in the schedule, but I'm sure everything will be fine when the tour goes on the road!

Well I was a bit selfish in my suggestion, I was speculating on more first row tickets for myself. And don't throw away this idea that easily. Just think about all the secretaries you could afford.

FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN, THEN WE TAKE BERLIN. If not now, maybe in fall or in 2009.
Besides, there is a CONCERT HALL in Vienna, desperately waiting to become a venue for LC....
Hope that Vienna, Munich or Berlin will be on the list of venues when the tour continues.

It says, that they have received the tickets and passed them on to the tour organizer. They ask you to be patient, because it can take some time until the refund is finally booked to your account.
I got the same mail some days ago, today I received the money on my credit card account.

Hi there
We had to use babelfish to help translate our email and we have had a reply saying they have our returned tickets and we just need to wait for the refund.
We have booked Westerpark now in Amsterdam - lets hope it doesn't rain.
I would also like to say thanks to this site for keeping us informed. We have waited 20 years to see Leonard and July here we come!!

I have got my money back today. We will now go to Lörrach, although it will be hard for us to stay for some hours (I have problems with herniated discs(?), my wife with her left knee). The new tickets has been arrived today too.
But it is just to amazing: on Wednesday Kris Kristofferson in Hamburg ( sitting

) and then on Friday Leonard Cohen at the other end of Germany.

Babel fish users/German speakers please help:
Does this mean that the money (minus the large postage costs of course) will soon by back in my account or do I have to do something else!
(Still hoping Leonard takes berlin before manhattan sometime in autumn!!!)
