Mick
Thank you for letting us contribute and for setting up a paypal account.
What Wendy has written about people sending the payment to you under 'personal' is correct and there is no charge for the person sending it
but I have experienced a small service charge when I deposited money sent to me (for an extra ticket or 2 )( ahem think Marseille which I had 3 tickets to sell as we can't make that concert and ended up selling to lovely forum members Judy, Paola and Beate but I digress...)
If it went to my chequing account or to my credit card as a deposit there was always a small fee. This can add up so I am not sure what you do about this.
Maybe someone has an idea?
Thanks
Leslie/Mutti

Even if you use the personal payment option, there are still fees involved for international transactions:
- A cross border fee of 1.0% applies to payments received from senders in another country (deducted from payments received unless the sender chooses to pay the fee)
- Payments requiring a currency conversion include a 2.5% fee (If you live in a country that does not use the Euro, the fee is paid by sender if you choose to pay in Euros rather than in the currency used by your own country; otherwise, the recipient has to pay this fee also)
PayPal is the most practical solution for international donations for the Plaque - just be sure to use the personal payment option and send your donation in Euros.
As soon as I post this, I'm off to the PayPal site to make my donation.

There was a transaction fee but I paid that my end. Was €1.30 and I paid using the personal payment option. Possibly a credit card charge and I'm well used to them when ordering concert tickets

I paid two transaction fees - a €0.05 international transfer fee (which is less than the 1% fee that the PayPal site said would be charged) and an approx. €0.25 currency conversion fee from US Dollars to Euros. I avoided the credit card fee by using the direct bank transfer option to send the contribution to Mick.

Mick, might be good idea to give name, forum name or code for sender but not to mention the amount, that would level the field, as some might like to give more or less than others. Each person would know themselves how much they have donated. You could then list the donations and sender when the final tally is completed, that way the collection would be transparent and accountable. I am sending you my contribution today.

I agree with your suggestion ronwed,
I will base the recording system for the contribution list on the method used by "dick" in 2009,
when he was accepting donations for the erection of Plaque on the Chelsea Hotel.
I will publish Forum name or "Anonymous" or off-Forum name of contributor but not amount donated,
when the fund is closed a list will be available to any person who requests same with subscribtion details outlining amount, name etc.
I hope this system will be acceptable to all, if not please advise.
I will have details regarding Plaque later this week
.

Was away on aran for the last couple of days - sheer bliss - so am only now reading posts on the forum. Great, you've set up a payment method for the plaque. I'll send a donation by post tomorrow. Thanks

Mick, thank you again for organizing all this! Besides everything pre-concerts, you have been so involved in the wonderful tree and plaque post-concert! I think we all realize how much additional work this is for you and it's truly appreciated. I'll be forwarding my donation in a day or two. Then will look forward, perhaps next year, to witnessing the finished product
All the best,
Diana
