Past Bedtime at Cumalot:

I was about to head up my tower to call it day, but stopped for a little spin around my favorite back room of this here, uh, forum (so called).. and I couldn't help but notice that another poster (whose name escapes me for some reason)[later note: I can't believe I'm still awake.. but thought I'd add, this is not his Lordship].. has a little "pome" about waiting for someone.. or missing someone.. something like that.. and, well.. as it's a theme I'm slightly acquainted with, I couldn't help but identify with this poor grieving poster's predicament, and thought that what might be nice for us both, then, would be a little Cumalot bedtime story.. (to help with all the waiting and pining and grieving, that is).. I hope this is at least slightly amusing.. I'm actually quite tired, and have been rather sad feeling today (but then this sad pome-poster would understand that feeling as well, I think)..

Okay.. I forgot to mention that, along with the three lousy Indies I saw this week, I also saw a little (fairly dull) doc on the phenomenon of "furries".. and since our own Jarkko has that Danger Mouse fetishie thing he likes to do, I thought I'd put in a word.. (not sure if that makes this a story.. but..).. Now, the reason the doc was dull is because it skipped the, well, sex-fetishie part. But then I realized (after doing a quick little search just now) that the sex-fetishie aspect only comprises a small percentage of furries.. whereas the "normal" furries instead don cuddly stuffed animal clothing more the way Bjork did when she wore her famous cuddly swan get-up to the Oscars -- (or, in other words, "normal" furries wear these get-ups in order to win Oscars) (I never understood that before).. Actually, I always admired Bjork for doing that.. and yet, with the exception of Jarkko, I've not yet admired furries very much.. Anyway, as for Bjork, when asked who designed her, um, costume, I guess it was.. instead of her naming a famous designer (the way everyone else does), she simply said..

Anyway, I was sorely disappointed (given all the other art porn I've seen of late) that there was nothing racy about this little art doc I saw. It was just some guy dressed as a big orange-and-black-striped tiger furry-thingy, with this friend, dressed as a.. hmm don't recall that one.. oh, and this other guy (gosh, they were all guys, as it happens) dressed as a big, fat, grey rat (with a long pink tail), who actually wanted to be a rat, although I can't remember his reasoning.. something about rats being misunderstood, I think..

.. alright, I'm getting into dangerous territory here, but just because Michael Jackson is sporting an Afro in this footage, does not mean he was in any way a furry.. (nice to find a good disclaimer for him, actually).. anyway, it just so happens that he befriended a rat, once upon a time.. (and wrote a fantastic song because of this -- assuming he wrote that song.. I'd have to verify that, but believe he did -- if the movie can be believed)..

.. OKAY.. so, I was spacing out as I watched this dull furries doc.. I mean, I couldn't believe the audience -- suffering on hard chairs, or, in my case, the hard floor -- wouldn't be privy to some sort of kinky-furry, tiger-on-rat, sex-ordeal or something.. but instead.. NEWS FLASH: now I read that the "regular" furries.. (the ones that never have sex, apparently) feel they are being downright abused (some comparing this to the Holocaust, even) (really, I couldn't make this stuff up.. well, actually I could.. but, in this case, I didn't).. just because of a few bad apples.. (furry apples, I presume).. so.. I guess the moral of this furry good-night tale.. (or do I mean tail?).. is to direct any further furry inquiries to Jarkko, who surely must have a fairly furry, or at least sophisticated take on this matter, given, well, obviously, his furry-fetishie Danger Mouse issues.. and given he's from a nordic country 'n all, where they're all into sex 'n saunas 'n things.. 'n.. gosh, maybe the finnish furries take saunas with their cuddly costumes on, come to think of it (!).. (that certainly would heat things up, at any rate)..

.. oh.. one last note on furry things, since I just saw this famous Meret Oppenheim piece this past week at the very expensive.. [I mean, twenty bucks is beginning to feel like only a few "offs" of Broadway, at this point].. Museum of Modern Art..

My dearest Lordship,

Well, this place is quiet for now.. no new foiled attempts at
castle bombings.. no weddings, as yet.. no drownings.. (as yet)..
If I told you how my insides were this morning it would not
be good.. so I'm announcing instead my decision to make my
very first Lemon Poppy Seed Cake, as my birthday is coming
up. Something about even just the thought of a Lemon Poppy
Seed Cake is so lovely and uplifting to me that I'm actually
counting on this to help me through -- well.. it's that time of,
um, the month (again).. and sometimes this means a difficult
emotional patch to get through.. not always.. but certainly
this month it does.. (men are at least spared this, and it's a
good thing too, or else there'd probably be even more wars
and devastation than there are already)..
ANYWAY.. need to make a choice now, as to recipe.. I just
found a rather unique seeming recipe that uses eight egg
yokes (!).. yikes, that's a lot of deep yellow.. hmm.. not sure
if I should be adventurous and try this one.. or play it safe,
and go with a more middle-of-the-road variety.. knowing me,
I'll probably go for broke.. see how the eight yoke wonder
works out.. I'll be having guests.. so.. I guess we'll all have
to suffer through it if it's a dismal failure.. on the other hand,
if it works out.. it might surprise and delight us all.. and I
shall be crowned Sweet Princess Violet Flower (of the deep
yellow, lemonie heavens.. sprinkled with black poppy-seed
stars)..
.. anyway.. thought I'd choose an uplifting song to go with
my lemonie cake.. and this one, it seems, was inevitable..

How are you able to resist Violet when she dedicates such delightful (and complimentary) music to you?

V., lemon poppy cake has too many egg yolks, plus the little black seeds stick in your teeth and wreck your lovely smile. Switch to (much more suited to you) angel food cake that melts in your mouth, uses 12 egg whites – zero yolks – and is iced with frothy cream whipped with strawberries and honey – ambrosia!

.. thanks for your loving support, K.K. & I.F.. but, as I think I've mentioned, his Lordship and I communicate telepathically, and so the written word part is really just a formality at this point..

.. actually, cake-wise -- what I think I'll do is save the egg whites after separating all those yokes, and make a strawberry 'n cream angel food cake on my real birthday, which isn't 'til Saturday.. that way, I'm sort of putting Humpty Dumpty back together again.. (with the yokes 'n the whites, I mean).. oh, and I'm having my deep yellowie dream-cake, and eating it too.. (although I'll run and brush my teeth immediately afterwards)..

Cumalot's Cooking Corner, with Sweet Princess Violet (flour)..

Hi all.. (hi, my Lordship).. I hope all is well with you..

.. I had a success last night with my lovely Lemon Poppy Seed Cake, with its plethora of poppy seeds that added this amazing texture -- and looked like clusters of starlings sailing across a fading sunset.. and they didn't even stick to my pearly whites, I noticed.. (although there was some powdered sugar at the tip of my nose.. but that seemed rather cute, so.. not too much harm done, I don't think)..

.. but the cake was quite sophisticated.. It was both dense seeming and light at the same time.. the lightness having to do with all the egg yoke beating involved.. (it's always back to whipping around here, it seems).. meanwhile, the denseness seemed to have to do with the two whole sticks of butter I blended in there too.. Next time I might try adding a bit more fresh lemon lemon zest.. (made with lemon rind).. to add a bit more, well, zest.. Oh, and when I dusted the cake (with its hole in the middle, as I used an angel food pan, although you're supposed to use what's called a tube pan).. anyway, with the white dusting I did.. well.. I have to say, I was feeling something like a pro, it looked so masterful.. so.. on to the food of the angels next (which should take care of all those egg whites)..

.. okay.. just taking a tea break from my work work (that I actually do do)..

.. yes.. I'm enjoying watching these early films especially, realizing how these guys really don't know who they are yet -- as persons, I mean.. of course, it doesn't help that they have these stupid producers too steering them all wrong.. what, with the false smiles.. the feigned cheerfulness.. (!)..

John is also my favorite.. it's sort of like here in New York, you either have to side with the Yankees or the Metz, and well, especially as they usually lose, the true underdog will always go for the Metz.. and I think too, the underdog has to side with John.. (I pass by the site of John's death quite often.. the exterior of the building is also where part of Rosemary's Baby was shot.. quite a loaded piece of real estate, that Dakota is.. and a remarkable building)..

I didn’t realise you were back in the tower… What with the (apparent) departure of Queen cate and all the wedding preparations, I have been extremely distracted! … [‘Will you stop that King G…No, not again!']…Er where was I …Oh yeah, have been very distracted, been trying to plan the forthcoming nuptials…

There seems to be a wedding looming.
Lets hope it goes without a hitch.
If Lady K can keep the Groom in,

She’s planned the day and wrote the guest list,
She’s bought the dress that she will wear.
She hopes Sir F will not get too pissed,
Though she suspects he wouldn’t dare!

She’s asked I.F. to be chief bridesmaid,
She’ll have to leave her whip at home.
Or maybe we should let her bring it,
In case King G should start to roam.

The King has searched this lovely kingdom.
But not one priest could King G find,
That would agree to wed the winsome
Lady K. They all declined…

He even tried the local Rabbi,
Who said he could not do the deed.
He asked the pastor and the vicar,
But neither of them would concede.

Eventually he found the answer,
A judge is something he’d procure,
One, that was not blessed with morals,
Or one that he could simply lure.

The King asked D.B to be best man.
Sweet Princess V could be his date,
If we can get her from the tower,
And maybe make the wedding cake… (She’s becoming quite a cake baking expert)

And princess V can sort the music?
I’m sure she’ll find some youtube gig.
The Lady K would love some classics,
But King G wants an Irish Jig…

Now Lady K will sort the food out,
A banquet that’s fit for a queen.
And if all this comes to fruition
Then lady K will have her dream…

But let us not forget the story, (is there a story ?)
For this is Cumalot you know.
There’s one thing sure about this plot line,
You never know where it may go….


Oh well better get back to planning this wedding…where has he gone now? …No King G, I’ve not got time to polish that sword, you will just have to polish it yourself! …Not now, later! …Oooh I can see I’m going to have to take you in hand! …. I didn’t mean that…put it away! …. What am I going to do with you? …Please get up off the floor! …
