Has anybody seen a performance at Edinburgh Castle?

If so, what is the sound like? Am I going to be better off going to the Manchester gig? I've tickets for both and will sell the one I don't go to at face value.
Any thoughts welcome!

Hi, I've seen Wet Wet Wet and Rod Stewart at Edinburgh Castle and both were really great concerts - no problems with views or sound. For the Wets we were on the ground which was great and for Rod we were right at the back of the tiered section at the far end opposite the stage and it also was great!! As you can tell I love it as a venue!! The backdrop of the Castle is absolutely beautiful especially once it gets darker. It had been raining earlier before Rod Stewart but dried up.
I am gutted not to be going to the Castle show and have ended up with a Manchester night I don't really want just to get to see him - we're on holiday in July. I know less than nothing about Manchester or the venue but I'm learning quickly!!

I got seats in Block Y2, to the left of the stage, in Row PP so I'm guessing they're pretty good.
I am very tempted to go with this one as it sounds pretty spectacular, and I like Edinburgh anyway. Maybe a nice meal in Viva Mexico, then Len - sounds great! I have friends to stay with for both gigs too, which helps!

Hi Greenfeld69
If you go to Edinburgh take a couple of photos with the castle backdrop and let all see what they are missing, and walk around the city it is fantastic if you like history.Im from Liverpool but love going to the BIG E.

Thats where my seats are for LC, hows the sound that far back? Do they put up big screens for gigs at Edinburgh Castle?
I used to live in Edinburgh and wasn't very keen on the place but a Leonard Cohen gig is enough to tempt me back for a night!

Hi there, the sound was absolutely fine for Rod Stewart (able to make out all his patter!) and we still had a great view - the stage was straight in front, albeit over the heads of the people on the ground! I honestly can't remember if they had up screens - sign of old age I think

. I would love to be able to go but as I said, we're on holiday that week - oh well at least I'll see him a month earlier!!

The only thing I have seen there is the Military Tatoo during the Festival!!
A one-off I can assure you.... the fireworks were good but I don't think I'd repeat the experience.
Anyway to the point.... The castle is high upon a rock, the highest point in the city and that wind rushes in across the Forth. So, even in summer it can be freezing up there at night.
Take my advice, take a coat....and a cushion....and a flask....and a good friend...and maybe an umbrella!

Cheers for the info! I'd rather be on the flat seating but I think that where we're sitting should be good as we'll be facing the stage directly, as long as the sounds good I'll be happy
