I am going to the opera house to see Leonard on the 17th June ( lucky me ) and I wondered what the venue is like for acoustics etc as I have never been there . I suspect the fact it is an opera house says we are in for a good sound but I would like the views of anyone who has been to a concert there

I'm a bit frantic here - I've not kept up to date with the news. In short, I live in Staffordshire and need advice on the best source for tickets, prices, etc. I'm also monumentally skint, but have a birthday coming up to justify prostrating myself before generous relatives. All help gratefully received.

Jim, if you don't have a ticket, and want to go to Manchester, buy the Guardian on April 4. The Guardian have 1,600 tickets to sell/distribute for June 19, and they will explain how they are doing this in that issue. The other three days in Manchester are sold out, and the touts on ebay are charging a fortune for tickets, as there are so few tickets to go around, given the intimate size of the venue. Buying tickets on ebay for July in London or Edinburgh seems more affordable, but be sure to read the posts on buying from touts and ebay to protect yourself, if you do that. We are hoping Leonard schedules another London date, as the market will bear it, but there's nothing official yet.

It is indeed Mr Waits, and after being on the phone for three hours trying to get tickets last time around I see little prospect of any success this time around either.

To save me digging through several layers of forum posts, does anybody know who the support will be in Manchester?

Seems Dublin gets Damien Rice, so maybe some much adored Mancunian might fit the bill.....

Morrissey anyone? :D
