What is the most appropriate present to give Leonard?

A different thread about giving flowers to Leonard at a gig got me thinking what would be the best thing to give Leonard. I'll put my hand up and say I was rather boring in throwing him a single red rose during Everybody Knows (not even long stemmed I'm afraid) at Manchester. I read that someone else had left a teabag and oranges on stage which brought a smile to my face - I'm unsure what Leonard's reaction was. What would be the most appropriate present? Ideally one that would bring smiles or even laughter.

Let me think... a raincoat? Probably blue one... used, torn at the shoulder...

I can't think what the most appropriate present would be, but I know that the most useless present would be my Visa Card!

We've given it to him, and at several of these recent shows he has thanked us.

Our present is to keep these songs alive all these years.

It's nothing in comparison with what he has given us, maybe, but it's every writer's dream.

My feelings about it:

The actual, physical gifts left for him, presented to him, or thrown at him are bonuses.

If we're going to spend money for a present, our purchases of his albums and our attendance at his concerts.

If it's not directly related to money, our keeping his songs alive through covers and through our own singing and playing of and deeply appreciating them.

Mostly, it seems to me from watching him react at his performances, our affirmation of him and all that's he's been and continues to be to all of us, with our hearty, and must-be almost overwhelming to him, response to him when he appears in person and sings for us.

 I believe that's already been addressed, Eric. If not, then a fan rampage awaits in the wings. However, no further cause for concern as near as I can tell 8) .

Haha. I just read your signature when I clicked out. Had to come back in to comment. So true, eh  ?

Aha... yes, of course. My Huge apologies to Eric. See how closely you locked in as brothers, though 8) . Hardly know one from the other at this point, it's been so long since I've been frequent here ;-) .

Yes, I saw Leonard three nights in a row in Montreal. The best venue and concert I could imagine. It was wonderful. Still not even sure how best to describe it, so have barely tried.

AT a concert for somone else ( who i used to work with ) we arrangged people to throw a red rose at the stage at end like they do at times at an opera LOL it was slightly cheeesy ,yes, but the delight and LOVE was really felt and it was something well all remember including the artist. there were over 200 roses. it looked great.

anyway as far as LC goes he has my souls deepest honor and loving. what else really .

Well, personally, I got him a rose and a box of "Constant Comment" tea (ordered from America, because it seemed impossible to get in Europe)... Don't know whether he liked it though! Well, he smiled appreciatively when he took the rose, but about the tea, I cannot tell; I was't there when he opened the present (unfortunately)....

I think it would be cool (if you were a musician yourself) to give him some of your songs, but you playing his songs, maybe that's too typical though?
A painting or sketch of him performing?
Something artistic and genuine would be a gift....a DIY book of poems you wrote?

I reply because it's a good question, actually.
