Re: What a beautiful-romantic song!
Yes faithfully it is a beautiful -romantic song
There's a great line in there
" What use of flowers in the morning when the garden they should grow in is not mine "
Songs remember stuff so well for us .
This link to a song I have searched for a long time . It is a song by Buffy Saint Marie and I think Joan Baez sang it too .
However I couldnt find that . Neil Diamond sings it here

Re: What a beautiful-romantic song!
curious - what was the song?
Re: What a beautiful-romantic song!
Thank you lonndubh - it really was a beautiful and romantic song.
Re: What a beautiful-romantic song!
I was a teenager when this song was in the top ten hit parade
It was one of my favourites at the time but I think the version I remember most clearly was the one sung by Claudine Longet and/or Francois Hardy. I did like the Neil Diamond one too. Of course, Elvis Presley sings it too. It's wonderful to hear it again and be reminded of that time

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me

Sweet introduction from Smiffy but too much shouting for my taste.

This is for Diane, remember the CD I gave you? Here is one song revisited with a great rap translation.
Beautiful and romantic for those who love their homeland.

P.S You can download the video for free from iTunes Aus right now.

And good my post brought you here to post
GURRUMUL & BLUE KING BROWN Gathu Mawula Revisited
Its a very fine sound
thanks for posting the link.
Re: What a beautiful-romantic song!
I have been struck by that song a couple of times on the radio lately, L. I like people who shout and scream and burn. Ones who whisper also.
Of course I remember, BM!, and that is a brilliant video. Thanks so much. In addition to the protest, it is excellent that music like this can gain an international audience so that entire peoples/languages are not only 'known' for their blightedness. Gurrumul was billed to be on at WOMAD over here last year, but had to pull out due to ill health, so I am glad to see he is fit enough to make new music.

also, how about this video of Gurrumul singing Every Breath You Take with Sting (this interpretation sounding romantic as opposed to sinister):

I was mesmerised by the energetic Drummers of Burundi last year, with their 'rhythms from the trees of their land'. What doesn't come across on film is the volume from all that pounding of hollowed-out tree-trunks!Beautiful and romantic for those who love their homeland.

Re: What a beautiful-romantic song!
Hi L, glad you liked my post . I was interested in listening to Adele because she is trying to crack the tiny Aussie market. Although the main reason international acts come all this way is to escape the northern winter, it can't be for the money.
Hi Diane,
I was surprised to see Gurrumul made it to Paris as I have heard he gets very homesick, doesn't even like coming to the southern states of Australia.
Seeing the drummers live would be something else.
Poor Sting! How can Trudy let him out of the castle looking like a homeless person, I want to knit the poor man a beanie that fits him.
Look after yourself, hope to see you again one day.

Re: What a beautiful-romantic song!
My first thought was that Sting looks like Olive Oyl (although the beard must be Popeye's).
Re: What a beautiful-romantic song!
Adele has a beautiful voice and like the person intruding her said it really is a song that most people can feel or have felt.
I think this is a romantic song by a very young Montreal artist - Bobby Bazini http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw8p3fDfMSw
these lines remind me of one of my favourite L.C. poemsOld friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light,
I loved both the video of the Burundi drummers and the Geoffrey Gurrumul and Blue King Brown song - just beautiful.I almost went to bed
without remembering
the four white violets
I put in the button-hole
of your green sweater
and how i kissed you then
and you kissed me
shy as though I'd
never been your lover
