This is from the LeonardCohenFiles.com - about "Songs from the Life of Leonard Cohen."
The film, originally produced by the BBC in 1988, is a full-length concert intervowen with interview footage shot in Athens, Hydra and New York plus rare and rarely seen documentary footage of Leonard’s childhood and early career. The music comes from Cohen's I'm Your Man tour of 1988.

Running time: 70 minutes. Produced by the BBC and CMV Enterprises. The video was released in VHS PAL and NTSC formats as well as on laser-disc but unfortunately has been sold out for years.

I found a few different links where you can watch this video -

And this site that appears to be Chinese seems to be the site that originally uploaded it (YouKu) -

I think it was uploaded about a month ago, and at that time, when I tried to watch, it was very choppy - so much so that it was too painful to try to watch it like that. Now, however, it seems to be playing okay. I wish I could figure out how to download it.

It's a wonderful video - and if anyone knows how I can download it from one of these sites - a PM with instructions would be gratefully accepted! :D

Hi sturgess66,
It's a great music documentary - first shown on UK TV in 1988, but also shown again last year as part of a 'Leonard Cohen' evening.
I have sent you a PM with more info.

I recently obtained a copy of this VHS BBC recording on Amazon from a private dealer. I sent it to a company who put it on DVD disc. It is very good and the quality is great. There are other copies out there. I am a new Leonard Cohen fan, I had never heard of him till I saw the Live in London Concert on a Boston PBS station. I have a lot of catching up to do:)

Hey, Cheshire gal, welcome to the forum! What a great way to discover Leonard Cohen. I was wondering if all the PBS TV fundraising broadcasts would result in new fans. Enjoy all your future LC discoveries. And be prepared for live concerts in 2011, when it has been speculated that he will be doing concerts in Eastern Canada. There will be many forum members there. A great opportunity for you to share your new passion.

Thanks Arlene,

I don't know how he does it. Those concerts must take a lot out of him. He must be really enjoying it. So much love from his fans. Oh how I wish I had known about him all these past years. I thought music was dead. There was nothing out there for me. I have never been on a forum before also, so this is fun to find out what people are thinking and how much energy they bring to informing everyone about Leonard. He is very special. I am hoping for much more in 211. I would dearly love to see him live.

Marie
