Ah Jarkko, what an interesting way to tantalize us with news about LC's forthcoming new album. :D

Leonard Cohen draws with humor

For decades, Leonard Cohen has crossed the world to know his songs and all this time he scribbled a few portraits and some objects for his pleasure. In his astonishment, his visual art is now revealed in broad daylight and is the Gallery Lounge TD receiving Exhibition Leonard Cohen Artworks in Montreal from February 18 to May 9

To celebrate the event, an opening was held February 17 at the pre-opening of the Montreal High Lights Festival. Leonard Cohen failed to appear for the occasion, but his son Adam made an appearance to represent his father.

"I have no qualification to talk about art, but I'm here to honor the work of my father. I said no to all other cities, but it is with great pleasure that I am representing my father in Montreal. It was he who sent me elsewhere, "says Adam Cohen, slightly embarrassed.

At the beginning of the route of exposure, a text by Leonard Cohen is displayed where you can see how the artist is humble before his art. "If there was no paint, mine would be important, this is not the case," he writes.

Memories Drawn

The Leonard Cohen Artworks exhibition showcases drawings in watercolor, pastels, oils and self-portraits made in the computer. The artist has also drawn nudes, familiar objects and landscapes. He said these images were used to decorate their notebooks.

"These images, I know from my childhood. I know these people and objects. Usually our memories remain etched in our memory, but my father managed to draw and I think it's wonderful. He is very pleased to see that the public likes her designs, "explains the artist's son.

"Leonard Cohen did not think that his drawings were attracting people and even fewer thought it was possible to sell them. It is an accomplished artist and very humble. The Jazz Festival has honored two years ago, handing him an award and making a tribute, "said Alain Simard President of Spectra.

The exhibition recalls perhaps memories of the singer's son, but the public can also see many memories of the singer. Indeed, Leonard Cohen has enjoyed making self-portraits throughout his life. Sometimes humorous, sometimes sad "I copied hundreds of self-portraits evoking one thing or another," says the poet.

According to Leonard Cohen, the exhibition ought to bear the name Decorations acceptable, but with his drawings, he still managed to find his next album cover. "Neem is one of the muses of Leonard and he made a sketch. Its design will be the next album art from the artist who will leave in April, reveals Alain Simard.

The Leonard Cohen Artworks exhibition runs from February 18 to May 9 at the TD Gallery Lounge.

And for those who struggle with Googledygook, the next LC album will not "leave" in April but "come out" in April! :D

Thanks Jarkko for this info,

Because of my profession I would dearly love to be at this exhibition but I can't. :(

I could offer my services in designing the NEW record cover but it seems it is a done deal
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me

And per Babylon translation (so fitting, as "Babylon" is often used by LC)

"will be released in April'' :D

Actually I've just realised that according to Google Translate it is Leonard himself who is meant to be leaving in April! Surely it doesn't take two months these days to cross the Atlantic, does it?

Okay, Jarkko, I will take the bait, yet again. Will there be a new LC album release in April, 2010?

I think Jarkko is saying that there WILL be an LC album release in April 2010, but that its cover will NOT be a picture of Leonard's muse NEeMa as reported in this article. There quacks the canard!

I checked the news with Leonard. It is a drawing he, Leonard, made of NEeMA that will be her CD cover in April...

Thanks for clarifying this for us Jarkko; the article is ambiguous, and somewhat misleading. I understood it in exactly the same way as Bridger15! :)

Oy veyizmir!

And "whew!"

Thanks for clarifying Jarkko. What with the Google translation - combined with all those buzzing words - this could have turned into a thread of speculation - one thousand pages deep.

And - "another canard in the media?"

What about Mr. Gevalt?... 'Oy vey zmir gevalt' would complete the collection of yiddishe horror... from over cooked schnitzels to really bad news... ;-)

On a serious note: I love LC's generosity in contributing from himself to other artists.
Such a Mentch!
