Los Angeles...
Los Angeles...
Anyone here from near or around the Los Angeles area? I know of a couple here who are... We need to have a get together and talk of Cohen sometime. For gods sake, the man lives here! Maybe there are already L.A. people doing something but I am not a part of it. Hahaha. Anyways, maybe someday there will be a convention in Los Angeles... Hmmm...

Los Angeles...
Yes, yes, yes! I live in Phoenix and regularly go to L.A. for weekends.. It would be great to meet up with some other Cohen fans
Kieron,
Yes, well someday it would be great to have a large formal gathering in Los Angeles...
For now I was just talking about those who are in and around the Los Angeles area regularly who would like to meet up. A large gathering will happen someday, some year, I believe.
Trish,
It would be great to meet up sometime when you are in Los Angeles. Just let me know...

yes yes yes, i would be i. and sean would be sean. and together we were the two "fellas" outside the davis hall saturday night, along with you and the other great fans. man, i describe that night as pure catharsis. it was philosophy, cigarettes, and drunk souls. while that may be a fitting concoction for new york city, i think los angeles needs more of it!! sean, i am with you in rockland! let us gather in l.a. for l.c.

Trish,
My girlfriend goes to college right near Mt. Baldy. I have been up there and near the Buddhist retreat but it is closed to the public. I did not go on the grounds in respect of their wishes.

Well, excuuuusssee me, but I have practically begged for an invitation to LA and I believe I was completely excluded from Sean's last LA bash! Not only that, I now see that Trish lives quite close to me, in Phoenix, and I go there to visit my in-laws quite often.
My husband and I were planning on visiting a few LA galleries to see if they might be interested in his paintings...guess I just won't mention when he has his big LA opening unless....you invite us to your meet-up!!

There seems to be a number of you in LA (or at least California), so I thought I would sow the seed of an idea in your minds.
It's your prerogative to take it further or otherwise dismiss it (for whatever reason).
You will see that, since the Montreal LC Event in 2000, these international events have been held in (or planned for) either places Leonard has lived in or places he has visited or sung about (eg. Berlin). Therefore, what I am proposing is that one of the future events (say 2008 or 2010) be staged in the LA area.
I’ve been doing a low-key investigation of your geography and urban spread and it would seem to me that an eastern suburb of LA might be a good strategic location to hold such an event. As well as LA being Leonard’s current residence, somewhere like Claremont would be good because: (1) it is close to Mt Baldy and would therefore facilitate trips up there to see the Zen Centre; and (2), it seems to have some motels/hotels and a conference centre (Claremont Inn Hotel), along with the possibility of Claremont Colleges being available for cheaper accommodation (?) if the event was held in their summer vacation break.
Anyway, I really don't know enough about LA to push this point, but I’ll leave the idea with you to think over. I don't want it to become like bidding for the Olympics
, but at this point I’m not aware of any other post 2006 LC Event locations being considered - though given London has the 2012 Olympics, perhaps an adjacent LC Event there that year would work!?
Cheers
