Say a little prayer!

Post by Purple Princess »

Hi everyone, this is just a little request that everyone says a little prayer for the big freeze to end and that aeroplanes will fly from the UK next week!
I am flying from my local airport (UK) to Vegas via Amsterdam and due to the big freeze and abundance of snow here, there has been no flights leaving for the last 5/6 days from my airport! Am trying to stay calm and positive and am sure am not alone so please lets have some LC fan vibes and let us all get there!!! ;-)

I'm sending a BIG prayer, if no one minds, to all of Europe and the U.K. for weather conditions conducive to safe flying. I was listening to a broadcast regarding conditions in Germany and Europe, in general, and the sudden hardness of the freeze, including eight deaths from the cold... very harsh weather that all of you are having to deal with. Who knows what Las Vegas will be like by then... but, surely you're dealing with it now! May all of the snow safely melt and weather be calm when you board your respective planes... and may we all see you in Vegas enjoying Leonard, the band, the crew, and each other.

Say a little prayer!

I always prefer to take a direct flight if I can so I am due to travel to Heathrow for a flight early tomorrow morning. The only problem is, we live in a rural area about 120 miles away ..... The airport is open but goodness knows how we will get on with very early morning drive there, especially as it is supposed to be c -10 C with freezing fog overnight tonight. I am taking a reward flight using the miles we got for our trip to Vegas last November so I probably won't have a leg to stand on if I can't get to the airport but the flight goes ahead. Still, I have to look on the bright side. Despite any appearance to the contrary, it seems the fates were definitely with me when I booked. When I booked my flights to Honolulu back in September (about 6 days before the cancellation ....) I tried to do it with two return flights - London to Vegas then Vegas to Honolulu - but I couldn't get a reward seat on the flight to Vegas on Dec 3. The Vegas flight goes from Gatwick, which is closed with no sign of re-opening any time soon. The only outward flight I could get which connected with a suitable flight to Hawaii was Heathrow to San Francisco so, if I catch my flight, I will be in the right place for the Oakland shows.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that we get to the airport OK. If I had my way, we'd be setting off right now ....

And, perhaps, you OUGHT to set off right now, Wendy. Are there hotels anywhere along the way? That's such a very long distance to drive even in the best of weather to reach an airport, but in the incredibly bad weather all of you are facing right now, is it not possible to just drive as far as you can get, take a hotel, and then finish in the morning, rested but MUCH closer!?! If it begins to snow even more and conditions become icy [I'm remembering our many Michigan winters], you really COULD miss your flight... especially, if there are any accidents enroute that will block traffic!

I'm praying for all of you. It went to freezing temperatures here last night, and I'm in Florida. Hopefully, flying into Vegas will be okay. I think I have a layover in Detroit[?]... which also means potential delays... if weather's bad.

Hopefully, your good luck with the U.S. flights will hold. Prepare for the invasive procedures once you land, though. Full body scans [likely dangerous to your health and visually derobing you] or invasive patdowns.

Purple Princess ~ It seems Amsterdam could be a sticky-wicket, too... conditions turning bad quickly.

My heart is with all of you... anywhere on the other side of the pond and even in our winter areas.

Made it! I'm at London Heathrow waiting to board my Virgin flight which is showing every sign of departing on time.

NOW I can get excited .... yay!

See you in Oakland for those who are going and, if not, see you in Vegas!
