Leonard Cohen hiphop? The Partisan

Post by jameskan »

I'm not sure if you can call this a "cover" in the strict sense, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything else similar to this?
This a basically an attempt to show how relevant Cohen's older music is to today's events...Please check it out:

Thanks, Peace and Love.

Hi jameskan

I've listened to your song several times now, very poignant, very powerful and very thought provoking!!
It does make you wonder if we will we ever learn to love and respect each other, and what global catastrophe will bring this about??

I think Leonard Cohen’s music is timeless and it's underlying messages will always be relevant!

Thank you for sharing this and i wish you luck in all you do.
Peace and love to you too.

I watched it last night and liked it a lot. The pictures are hard to watch again, but hey...
I wondered if Leonard Cohen himself would like it... I suspect he might.

I agree remote1

the pictures are hard to watch and it is easy to close our eyes to things like that, even though we shouldn't.
I think Leonard would like the sheer passion of this clip!

Thank you both for taking the taking the time to listen...I really appreciate your positive comments - didn't go down quite as well when I posted it elsewhere! (see viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24006)

I did reply a few days ago but it seems somehow my post got lost in the void, so apologies for the delayed response!

Remote1, thanks, I agree with you totally about the images - not a video I enjoyed putting together at all.
Karren, thanks for encouragement, his music really is timeless. You're familiar with the Story of Isaac? another song that is unfortunately completely relevant right now, could have been written yesterday, especially the last part - I've been working on doing something with it for a wile...will post when its finished.

thanks peace and love x

As I said it's easy to close your eyes to things you don't want to see...Sometimes it takes someone like you to open them, wether we like it or not!

I don't think any of us would be here if we weren't familiar with Leonards music & poetry...Look forward to seeing and hearing more of your work!
