Fred the Tour Monkey -- Update from Chris Bynum

Post by brightnow »

More details about the raffle will certainly follow, for now Chris provides this exciting update:
Just took the last photo of Fred the Monkey with Leonard at his house. I'm going to put together a photo album of Fred and then we will do a raffle on the LC Forum for Fred and the photo album. I'll get with Jarkko when it is done.
Fred got to visit Leonard at his house! I'm so happy for the little guy...

I am smiling from ear-to-ear!!! Little Fred is becoming more and more famous! I don't know if anyone was able to capture it on film, but at the last concert in Las Vegas when literally EVERYONE was on stage for the final bow, up popped Fred bouncing on someone's shoulder! I can't say for sure, but someone said "Vegas Ned" in his sequined jacket was also visible!

Many thanks to Chris, and to one or two monkeying cohorts, for spreading Fred's fame!

This next step is SO awesome! "Mother Mary"...thank you for the "birth" of our little guy, and I feel so honored to have been there at the start! :D :D

Yes Diana, we flew into Phoenix on a 'whim' when those seats appeared. Little did we know the journey Fred would take and the care he would receive from Chris.

In Vegas, I was bending over to retrieve a tissue from my purse and I hear 'Fred', 'Fred'....from audience members. Imagine my surprise when I popped up and there he was, held up by Chris on Hattie's left shoulder. Sadly, if Vegas Ed was there, I didn't see him.

This is exciting news. I didn't see Ned either. I did contribute to the monkey collection by laying a white "Woot' screaming monkey on the stage with the roses at the end of intermission though!

Hi Lorraine,

I did see you at one point in the venue demonstrating your monkey's screams. Never got a chance to get over to you to meet you though :( I hope it happens sometime in the future. BTW, Fred makes monkey sounds also when you press his chest

Warmest regards,
Mary

Hi Liz!
No one could be prouder! I looked real hard for your cute Butler, but it was hard because some of those onstage came out with the mini Fred's they received as part of their gifts. To tell the truth, I was focusing more on the humans on stage
Much Love,
Mary

Chris has a wonderful idea and it's going to be exciting to watch it develop. He takes his commitments seriously and such a wonderful opportunity for us to be able to participate in his honouring this one. I look forward to his sharing the details with everyone.

Look at how long and complex the journey has been
that began with a monkey and a plywood violin

Lesson #1:
Never underestimate a mother's devotion.
Lesson #2:
Never underestimate the power of a monkey and a hand-carved violin.
