Hi,
Here are two versions of a summertime classic:

The 2nd version with the former Chelsea Hotel guest feels good to me year-round.

Great idea for a thread Steven. Shine by Aswad is a fine happy tune that's been on the radio a couple of times lately:

listening to your Janis Joplin now ... sweet.

Hi Diane,
Thanks for "Shine." Never heard the song before. Like it. Like the outdoor videography too.

Glad you liked. On the reggae theme, UB40, esp their colabs with Chrissie Hynde, remind me of summer, just because of past associations. But I think Vivaldi's Summer (from the Four Seasons), 3rd movement here by Nigel Kennedy, best expresses the depth of the season's beauty:

best played a bit louder.
It'd be interesting to hear others' fave summer songs:-)

Hi Diane and Goldin,
The Vivaldi and Beatles selections, each classic in its own way, are enjoyable expressions of summery
feelings. The Vivaldi for stimulation (and, yes, beauty). The Beatles for simplicity, as when life feels simple and easy in the better moments that summer is associated with. (Will be off-line a couple of days. Summery stuff
at hand.)

Have a nice weekend, Steven!
Here's another song, which has much in common with "Shine" from Diana's post:

Laid Back - Sunshine Reggae
A bit annoying, maybe - but very positive.

Hello Steven and Goldin! Good day sunshine indeed:-)! I hope it is as sunny a weekend where you are, as it is here.
Hotel California by the Eagles:

Trumpets by The Waterboys:

(I see that the third movement of Vivaldi's summer is supposed to depict a storm. I do like a summer storm, for the drama of it and p'raps because the darkness makes whole the light, kinda like a counterpart to there being a bright crack in everything dark.)

Hi,
Thanks for the song selections and the summer related wishes. Was a fine holiday weekend. Spent it down
at the New Jersey Shore. Mostly sunny weather. Had some brief stormy weather with rumbles of thunder and
lightning bolts. Swam like a fish. Saw some sights, including girls in their summer clothes. And of that,

Hi HelenMc,
The Monkees reference at the beginning of Big Sur reminded me of these guys and their silly song:
