One Small Complaint

Post by jerry »

My one small complaint about DH is that so many of the same lyrics are repeated over and over. At times taking what would have been a very short song and doubling or tripleling the songs lenght.

It may help [from my perspective] if you consider that Leonard spent six years in a monastery meditating and chanting. The results have proven benefits for the mind, body, and spirit.

Listen for the nuances, Jerry. Each time Leonard repeats the lyrics, particularly on Vilanelle for Our Time, he puts a slightly different emphasis on them.

I like the way he repeats. I find it is very mediattional and contemplative.

The more I hear it, the more I understand it.

Those words sound just so right. And also yours linmag and Dylan. In a zen monastery, yes, and he also did a few trips in India after these years. There is a tradition in yoga to repeat mantras (we discussed this earlier today :) ) and there is a way to repeat them using different tones which will give different results.
