Hi Steven,
I used to have a Jim Reeves version of this song Take my Hand, Precious Lord. He had a beautiful voice.
Here is a Willie Nelson song - short and sweet !
Too sick to pray

Hi Steven and Kush,
I have this version of Precious Lord, Take My Hand by Elvis Presley three times:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWM9BAiXPSI
1. original EP by RCA in 1957 called Peace In The Valley
2. original LP by RCA in 1958 called Elvis' Christmas Album
3. CD in 2000 called Take My Hand: Gospel Favourites
......This has reminded me that I really should do something about all my Elvis original LP's, EP's and singles from way back then

Hi Steven,
Here's one of my favourites (again short and sweet) - "Walking Down the Path of Life" by the Brian Wilson Band:

ah Merton,
You have made me delve once again into my old original Elvis record collection to find which LP "Where No One Stands Alone" was on. It was on my How Great Thou Art LP.
In the process I've re-discovered these favourites of mine
another two from How Great Thou Art LP 1967 -
Somebody Bigger Than You And I
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6BSKB3Fa4Q
Crying In The Chapel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00eUebsh68M
from His Hand In Mine LP 1960 -
Mansion Over The Hilltop
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gyb4Lk8T2pk
In My Father’s House
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d22p8rKZVzc
and a couple more from Elvis' Christmas Album LP 1958 version (which my parents gave me for Christmas some years later after that date) -
Peace In The Valley

It Is No Secret (What God Can Do)

btw you guys ....... you know this thread could possibly never come to an end and have an eternal life all of it's own

Hi,
Haven't been able to listen to most of the links yet. Am familiar with a number of the songs. Here's Elvis
singing one of my favorite hymns, "In The Garden":

After Elvis' In The garden, here's Van Morrison's song of the same name:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku5gd8Gv3Bs
no guru, no method, no teacher
just you and I and nature
...in the garden, wet with rain
aaah, love those lines (written after J Krishnamurti).

One of my favourite Van Morrison songs! Meanwhile, here's Billy Preston "That's the Way God Planned It" from "Concert for Bangladesh":

Hi,
Bob Dylan's "Ain't Talkin'" may in part be an answer song to some of the content of the traditional
"In The Garden."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnDq_f-NZnE "Ain't Talkin'" expresses faith,
though the walk in the "mystic garden" is far from an intimate stroll with the song character's Creator.
Like Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," it deals with human and spiritual relationship matters
(and the fallout from present moment disconnects/disunity.)
Enjoyed everyone's links.

An answer from Woody Guthrie to the promise of a reward in the next life found in this song:
Carter Family,
I Can't Feel At Home
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNnM7ZWz4HQ
was provided in this Dust Bowl ballad:
Woody Guthrie,
I Ain't Got No Home
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTnVMulDTYA
This piece with words by Woody was put to music many years later by Ellis Paul as part of the archival project of Woody's family, especially Nora:
God's Promise

I guess someone with Huntington's who had lost a daughter tragically knew a bit about what he was writing.
