I have been to many performances in my life. Many great legends. Your concert this evening in Portland moved me greatly, more than any other live musical performance I have attended. I want to thank you for coming to Portland and express my sincerest wish that if you do a another North American Tour you will include Portland, Oregon on your list of stops again!

Yes Doris, I did get a video of it, but my seat was far away.
I only added this concert recently and took what I could get with no heads in front of me.

Arlene, thank you so much for posting this video.
Hattie Webb you are brilliant. You certainly matched Jennifer Warnes and Julie Christensen in this performance.
I had shivers running up and down my spine watching this and listening to Leonard and Hattie.
Please do it again, especially in Australia.
Many thanks,
Alan

Arlene, I just have to say the biggest thank you for filming and posting that spectacular and so welcomed video of Joan Of Arc.
Absolutely superbly done by LC and all concerned! I especially enjoyed Alex's violin - just perfect perfection for this song

..... and Alan,
extra good things come to those who wait, and wait, and wait and .....
...... and Ute,
I haven't received my book yet so I don't know what's actually written there but here's what Leonard said about the song just before he performed it in Paris 1974:
"Now a song about a woman that has haunted me for a long time. This song was written for a German girl (Nico) I used to know. She's a great singer, I love her songs. I recently read an interview where she was asked about me and my work. And she said 'I was completely unnecessary'. Anyhow.... I hope she's not here. This song came through her."

This was pre-concert publicity but nonetheless, some nice words about Leonard -

Leonard Cohen
[MUSIC] They say, “Work like you don’t need the money.” Four years into an improbable, late-career reincarnation as a road warrior, Leonard Cohen must be doing it not just due to fiscal victimization at the hands of his former business manager but out of love. Once again, audiences can marvel not only at Cohen’s peerlessly poetic catalog, but also at how damn classy he is, not to mention amazingly spry, jogging on and off stage and dropping to his knees repeatedly (and, seemingly, effortlessly) throughout. Tonight’s show is sure to be sublime. JEFF ROSENBERG. Rose Garden, 1401 N Wheeler Ave., 235-8771. 8 pm Sunday, Nov. 11. $39.50-$250. All ages.

Joan of Arc, Oh My God! How lucky you all were to be able to experience it's debut.
I also thought Hattie Webb's performance was exquisite. Her voice was rich and pure,
Absolutely lovely. Hopefully they will do this again tonight for those of you going to
Vancouver!
