Just back from one of those great nights you will remember forever.
Mick and the rest of the lads gave one great performance, almost one that you might take as extra special as it might be the last time.........

I guess it all started for me sometime around Christmas 1967 and now, goodness me, it's.........2018 and over fifty years later.
No one ever listens to me. I might as well be a Leonard Cohen record.

Scott, not sure which route you took out of the park (terribly organised but nothing could take the shine off the day) we walked back down Oxford street to Bond Street underground and all the way there were chorus's of "Ooh who" and "Ooh who who" seemed that it just took one person to chant it and everyone around (pretty packed) joined in....even some odd chants at Waterloo for the train back. How good to see Mick Taylor on stage again and brought on again for the goodbye and placed bang in the middle of the Stones.
We were talking about it all over the weekend and fondly remembered the Stones back to the Crawdaddy in Richmond 1964, by then I was 15 and out and about the clubs but sadly I never saw them play at Eel Pie Island but did so in several other clubs in and around London, even down at Windsor..

We went down Oxford Street and found a pub for a quick refreshment or two after the event. Nearly everyone there had been to the concert. Its good now that in London they no longer throw you out of the pub at 11 o'clock. Luckily we didn't have to rush for the tube as we were staying in a hotel within reasonable walking distance, so we had the opportunity to relax for an hour or so. You are right about the organisation but, like yourself, we didn't let it spoil the day. We spoke to some others who had been to see Bruce Springsteen in the same venue and, apparently that event was much better organised, regarding access and queuing etc. Still we made the most of it and tried not to let the more excited revelers spoil the occasion. Mind you, we will never complain about audience behavior at a Leonard Cohen concert, after this!
I don't have your history, with the Stones as growing up in the Highlands of Scotland we didn't have much opportunity to see top bands. Anyway, I was only a year old in 1964. So I am envious that you had the opportunity to see them in the early days. Must have been fantastic. My father was a fan and introduced me to a lot of the music. The Stones were played a lot in our house. Similarly, I think he was the only person in our small town who listened to the early Leonard Cohen records. My first memories of these were around 1970/71. (Apologies for going off subject).
Like you said. Nice touch to see Mick Taylor up there at the end to cap a really fantastic concert. Glad you enjoyed it too...
