Garth Brooks Dublin

Garth Brooks 5 concerts now in Dublin in July. In Croke Park at approx. 80,000 each that's 400,00 - so far!
Now there's popularity!
Having ended up booking (and greatly enjoying ) many more LC concerts than I ever intended I can understand how the Brooks fans feel.
It also reminds me of the madness that is fandom, and I don't envy them. Just as well there is no LC tour this year. Perhaps there is a cure for love after all - just stop touring!

Looks as if Garth won't get beyond 5 (no doubt he and his promoters would be happy to do so - the music business is, after all, a money making business - however much we fans delude ourselves about our particular idol.)

The natives are revolting! The local residents, accustomed to tolerating daytime GAA games after which people go home, are objecting to 5 nights in a row of noise, traffic problems, etc. etc. Don't blame them.

The Garth Brooks debacle (only 3 licenced in Dublin, Brooks says 5 or nothing!) makes me realise how smoothly (on the whole) the LC concerts were run - well done to LC, John Reynolds, and all else involved!

Somehow I think LC would be easier to negotiate with...
