Album Titles

Post by Pete »

I was kinda thinking.... many albums are titled according to the name of one of the songs on the album, and 4 of Leonard's albums have employed that stance.
A song is sometimes used as an album title for differing reasons e.g. it is the best song on the album, it has a title that captures attention, it has a title that reflects the whole album, or the artist couldn't be bothered to think of a unique album title.

If Leonard's studio albums were each named after a song on the album my list would be as follows for a range of reasons as hinted above (I've even changed the 4 where there was a song title)

Sisters of Mercy
Bird on the Wire
Famous Blue Raincoat
Field Commander Cohen
Fingerprints
The Smokey Life
Dance Me to the End of Love
Tower of Song
Closing Time
A Thousand Kisses Deep
Undertow

There...... I've whiled away some more of my time :-)

Well, look at that! I saw Pete on the Gentle Giant website! Why didn't you tell us you had your own website, Pete?

I think I've mentioned here before that my other addiction is Gentle Giant :D and I've 'borrowed' this avatar before so I thought it needed airing again... probably it is an image of me in years (or weeks) to come.

Pete

p.s Tom? are you a Gentle Giant fan by any chance?

Sorry, Pete, I'm not a fan (not even of Gentle Giant), but I remember listenening to them in the seventies, and now and then I still do. They always were interestingly different from all the rest, and so beautifully off the beat-en rock-in tracks.

I'll try to make out of Saturday next a very gentle Giant party. Will you attend? (It's not close to Matlock - but who cares? This world's a Global Village, and with a few Giant's steps it shouldn't be a problem.)

Cheers
tom

Spending my time
Drunk and living fast
Nobody knows what lies in my past.
I'm lookin' back
My life is cryin' out
What did I do
What was I all about?
