"In a programme first broadcast on Radio 1 in 1994, the great Canadian singer / songwriter Leonard Cohen, who died this week, looks back on his life and work. Including contributions from Jennifer Warnes and Suzanne Vega."

Last night I watched a tribute to Leonard here in Australia on ABC2 TV with the I'm Your Man documentary.
It features artists in the Came So Far For Beauty concert at the Sydney Opera House in 2005 and LC and other artists at the Slipper Room, New York City.

I have this DVD and have watched it many times but saw it in a different light last night....

Really hope that , in the fullness of time, there will be a tribute concert somewhere I can easily get to .

On Sunday, November 20 at 18:00 in RYNEK GŁÓWNY in KRAKOW all artists (with Inhabitants) join forces to say goodbye Leonard Cohen.
The organizer of the farewell is:
-City of Krakow
- Krakow Festival Office
in cooperation with the publishing house "Znak"

Krakow, which is already in the 80s held student festivals songs by Leonard Cohen, wants to again pay tribute to him - through joint performance of the iconic song "Hallelujah". Gathered at the Main Square of the poet lovers will have the opportunity to sing one of his most famous compositions, along with Krakow artists and choir, conducted by Stanislaw Radwan. For arrivals they will be waiting for the song lyrics translated by Maciej Zembaty and Maciej Karpinski. All interested are strongly encouraged to bring lanterns and candles.

***Yesterday I found out there is a street named Leonard Cohen Street in Beer Sheva (Beersheba) ..not alot of information on the internet so I can't link it to our specific Cohen , but if I will be able to confirm the connection I will write more about it , there seems to be a very interesting story around it.

Leonard Cohen was a great creator, a talented artist, and a warm Jew, who loved the people of Israel and the state of Israel. I will not forget how he came to Israel during the Yom Kippur War in order to sing to IDF soldiers, out of a deep feeling of partnership. His touching voice will continue to accompany us, like his prayer "Hallelujah". May his memory be a blessing.
