Open Mic - Budapest 2018
Posted: Fri Apr 13, 2018 1:58 pm
Hi again friends,
Andrew (Darby) has organised and hosted the Open Mic sessions at several previous events, so I am very pleased to inform you he has agreed to do the same for our 2018 Budapest Event.
If you long to burst out of your obscurity as a performer, or otherwise just want to perform some of Leonard's songs or poetry as you always do when given the opportunity, this is your big chance! The Open Mic session always takes place in front of a friendly, supportive and non-judgmental audience, so newcomers to this type of performance, don’t be coy.
All you need to do is bring along your voice/guitar or whatever instrument you play. Traditionally, Open Mic has had a duration of between two and three hours, usually on one of the afternoons.
The main performance stipulation is that it is a Leonard Cohen piece, as opposed to Cohenesque ones (i.e. in the style of, or inspired by). Also, in a bid to allow as many people as possible to get a chance to perform, there will be a limit of 3 pieces (songs/poems/dances) per performer, unless a reduced number of performers allows more latitude, which will be communicated closer to the time.
Please email Andrew expressing your interest to perform at the Open Mic, at his email address: darby203@bigpond.com
The information required from performers is:
- the name/s of the performer/s;
- the name of the songs/pieces being performed;
- the language of the performance (if not in English);
- the approximate length of the pieces;
- any special requirements/equipment;
- a contact mobile/cell phone number.
Cheers,
Eva
