French singer/songwriter Serge Lama adapted Leonards Bird on a Wire as Vivre Tout Seule. Lama seems to think Freedom is being free from others. Leonard sang it in Paris in 1976. While it lacks the poetic imagery of the original, the music is still there.
Serge is the author of the depressive chanson, Je suis Malade (I Am Sick).
