Calçotada in Picamoixons.
This next Saturday, the 11th, we going to meet a small group of Leonard's fans for have a calçotada in Picamoixons. A calçotada is a typical food of that area of Catalonia in this epoch of the year. It is not easy to describe a calçotada, is something different.
From September 21, 2004 we are seeing us from time to time. Now there is something specially. It's out of Barcelona, in an intermediate point between Barcelona and Lleida. And finally we going to know personally a great fan, collector and knowledgeable of the Cohen's work, with which some time ago we are in contact through Internet.
We hope that Jorcx come with his guitar. Leonard's music is wonderful sung for our friend and shared with a group of admirers it's really special.
We all have met in leoanardcohenfiles, thanks to leonardcohenfiles.

Yes ~ It's very difficult to imagine that none of you would make it to Berlin. So relatively close, compared to some of us. Such obvious interest in Leonard.
PLEASE gather together by e-mail and/or PM to encourage each other to attend. I'd love to be able to walk up to a table where all of you are sitting and meet you in person... there are also informal, music happenings, where people just sit around and play for each other and together.

I will take Berlin with you, with my spirit but not with my body.
My English, and the one of my wife, is sufficient for some trips (like Picamoixons), but in a meeting with intellectual activities, we would have the sensation of being a couple of small idiots. She would like to go, already he has got used to the Cohen's presence - my first gift was The Favourite Game. On the other hand, in home, it makes me happy to listen to my small daughter play Famous Blue Raincoat.
I follow with good envy these meetings. Just yesterday I received from Maarten the DVD New York Event with Pearl and Julie at the Knitting Factory. Wow!
Well, in this Picamoixons's table, four members of Leonard Cohen Files were sat with an English much better that mine, and I believe that at least three of them (one not member) know better the Cohen's work and read more this forum than me. (Speaking of this table, we enjoy us to gossip about you, of course we do it of the most affectionate way, also about Leonard as if he was our friend.)
I would like that we had a Spanish representation in Berlin. I know that in Barcelona there are thousands of "touched" by Cohen, I saw them in the concerts. Still I wait than Jorcx or some one encourages.

Hi ForYourSmile ~
Oh, your command [or lack, thereof] of English is the least of reasons to not attend an Event. Many other means of communication bypass words. There is a palpable, good feeling shared even when both are at a 'loss' for words. Even so, there will be Spanish-speaking people there!!! You would do fine!!! If your wife wants to come, please find a way... this is so close for you, so relatively inexpensive... and you would be so glad you did!!! You two could hang out with us and I'll break down anything you want into simpler phrasings that your progress here makes it clear you could understand. I really wish you would come... and what about the others? They could be your segue with what's being said. I seriously can't believe we have no one on the participant's list from Spain ~ it is such a Cohen-strong country!!!
The person who was downsized out of here was the best one to go, anyway. He was planning to leave at the end of the month, to travel Europe with his paramour for at least a year. In his card, I wrote, "Remember Leonard Cohen's name. You are very likely to meet people, in Europe, who know and love him and his music." The first country they will be going to is Spain[!], where they plan to backpack for a month, and then go by train passes throughout the rest of Europe.
As you know, my approach to Leonard is not of the 'intelligentsia'/intellectual variety. However, I'm a great listener and love hearing those who do have that approach, explore his work. There IS SO MUCH THERE!!!
I'm not certain whether you meant me, in particular, or the Forum, in general, regarding your most affectionate gossip
, but I thank you, either way. Yes ~ Leonard has shared so much of himself here, in so many, different ways, it's difficult not to speak of him as though he could join you at the table at any moment. It's also difficult not to speak of many others here in the same way... after awhile, they simply become so familiar.
It would be so wonderful if you and your friends could join us in Berlin ~ in spirit, as well as body
!
?
Even though there will be other Events and events, in many ways, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Go for it!
Yes ~ Julie and Perla and the Knitting Factory experience were a major WoW!!! I'm glad you have the DVD to see that
.
Love,
Lizzy

Hey comrades!
the daily soirée in Picamoixons was reeeaaallyyy nice! We have a lot of fun, conversation and music (superb in Jordi's voice and guitar). We celebrated Cohen's name with some wine and some wishes also.
I was surprised to see myself in the pictures: I'm the one with glasses dressed in black, with a scarf. Foryoursmile, Conchita, Jordi, Antonio, Chema, Guadalupe, what a group! I hope we repeat again in another fortmat!
Et les calçots, I higly recommend them to all you Cohen's freaks: delicious!
Greetings
