Dubliner

Hello

Just returned from four days in Dublin where I was again involved in da Leonard Cohen show.. "Came so far for beauty". 2 very good shows I think. Lou Reed was on, Antony, Jarvis Cocker was brilliant and loads of others. Quite inspiring to watch all these people from the wings. Makes you raise your game when it's time to go on. So, I was the best is what I'm sayng. Ha!

I'm going back to NY tomorrow. I'll be in the studio all next week before I start some opening dates w/ EmmyLou Harris. They're all around the east coast of America, if you're in the area, please drop in...

Very good to get input from one of the performers 8) . The best as compared to himself, or the best as compared to the rest :wink: ? I'm guessing he's using himself as the measure. Always improving...

It hadn't occurred to me to go to Anjani's site to see what she may have said there by now, but it's occurred to me now. Thanks for this, Gift of A Golden.

No report yet... later this month there will be one 8) .

However, prior to her leaving for Dublin, Anjani gave a super, one-minute interview... delightful to read and see her unpretentiousness:

Good to remind folks of the anjani link.... thanks tish.

The archives contain her detailed report on Spain... delightful and funny. I recommend a read if anyone missed it.

We may try to catch Teddy Monday night in Red Bank. It's a fairly long trip but we also love emmy lou, and Waiting for the Miracle still rings in my ears!

Dick,

I've seen Teddy Thompson three times in 2006:

- once with his band;
- once with him solo and acoustic;
- at the Came So Far For Beauty shows in Dublin.

He has been good value on each occasion.
Tonight Will Be Fine was performed regularly on his recent UK tour.
Plus, if the divine Emmylou is there, you simply have no excuse for not attending!

Am disappointed to report that after deciding it was a must to go to Red Bank, there ain't no diamonds in the mine! Will check box office for any returns but have to wait till monday noon. :(

See that this show was originally to have been in March but Emmy Lou cancelled --- realize we had tickets with friends to see it in Allentown PA before Spring cancellation.

Glad we caught Teddy a few times in the past, and the Emmy Lou - Mark Knoffler show this summer. Want to catch Teddy again in NY -- hopefully with lovely Kami :wink:

What songs did Lou Reed sing, anyone know?

The Stranger Song, and two about Nico - One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong, and Joan Of Arc (in duet with Julie Christensen, who sang it with Leonard on Cohen Live). he also contributed to Memories (I wonder did he sing the Nico reference there: "to the tallest and blondest girl":-)

I just noticed that Teddy is doing support for Lucinda Williams on her tour in November. I am going to be in Bruxelles for that show and I hope that he will do his fantastic version of "Waiting for the miracle to come". My personal highlight on the Dublin show.

I commented on Teddy's Myspace page that I hoped Waiting for the Miracle would become a staple. Maybe a write-in campaign by Cohen fans would have some influence.

I don't really like myspace all that much because you have to join and have some profile, and then ask people to add you as a friend before you can post comments. But there are lots of musicians who seem to use it. I know Anjani checks her comments regularly. She likes to hear fan reactions, so suggest posting to her page too.

Dang Barracuda! Thanks for Anjani's link, though, Dick. I've never seen Teddy Thompson, though I'd have voted for this song to become a staple of his, regardless. Both will need to wait till this weekend.

Thanks, Margaret :wink: .

Sorry tish

most friends accessing net from corporate sites say that myspace, as well as photo slideshow sites (photobucket, snapfish) are blocked by their Information Tech departments.

bosses just seem to want attention to other material I guess - :lol:

I was under the impression that only "Take This Longing" was about Nico.

Anyway, are these recordings going to be released the way the other ones were? I would seriously die to hear Lou Reed singing those songs.
