The petition reads:

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Recommend
that Leonard Cohen the canadian singer be awarded a knighthood
for services to the arts.

Permission would have to be obtained as Canadians are not
allowed to accept honours usually. Leonard Cohen is a true
poet, singer and superstar who has illuminated the lives of
many people around the world and no member of the Commonwealth
is more deserving than he.

2 million people signed the road pricing petition - and the government still ignores them however I'll be happy to get 500!

Hello Simon

I have signed a couple of petitions with 10 Downing Street and I believe ex-pat Brits like myself can sign not just UK residents. I signed one petition to save RAF Northolt's WWII buildings and another to make the late great Liverpool FC manager Bob Paisley an honorary knight (yes I am an avid soccer fan and Reds supporter).

It is generally for ex politicians, civil servants with the proletariat represented by Trevor Brooking and my local lollipop lady (BEM of course)
however

LC is different - I would like Leonard to be recognised.
